The last movie I saw in a theater was 11 years ago. I waited 2 solid years for this movie to come out, and was super excited. I went early in the day to see it trying to avoid annoying crowds, but ended up sitting by a group of people who talked the entire time and had their phones on bright as day during the whole movie. I literally came back the next day to re-watch the film so I could maybe try and enjoy it.
After the re-watch, I left the movie theater and never came back. Now, I've invested in a giant movie projector, I've got plenty of snacks I buy at REASONABLE prices on tap, big comfy leather couches to settle into, and great sound. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything clearly as nothing has motivated me to go back. Years ago it used to take an entire year for a film to be released for home viewing, but nowadays the turnaround is like 3 months and even sooner if its on streaming platforms...
Do you still think going to the movies is worth it for you?
Only cause so few of the movies these days are worth going to. So many endless sequals, remakes, and woke disasters. There's so many good stories out there that haven't been touched.
Science fiction mysteries
Alternate histories
Real histories of heroism and defying the odds
I want to see more shows like The 100, or The Expanse.
I want to see them finish adapting Dune. What about all the women disguised as men to fight in the American Revolution. Or what about the French African colonials who fought against the Nazis for a country they'd never seen.
Or the the mission undertook by Norweigian Commandos to sabatage Germany's nuclear weapons program.
How about some movies about possible encounters with aliens through a lense of hard science.
How about a steampunk Victorian adventure like the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Instead its Marvel Movie #59 and generic live action remake of disney movie #42. Or hey, lets race and gender swap actual historical figures.
There's no creativity, no imagination, and no joy. Its just soulless slop comming off an assembly line. Movies should be handmade. Not manufactured.

not really
I'm not and never was a frequent movie-goer. I'd rather wait for the movie to become free later on instead of paying for tickets
spoilers don't bother me. I can usually guess what a movie is gonna be about anyway
plotlines are predictable and movies these days have devolved into poor quality cash grabbers, some with political garbage purposely sprinkled into them
It's definitely a different experience than it used to be, but I still enjoy the big screen on occasion.
I still like to go. I try to wait a few weeks to avoid too many people being in there though.

Pretty much. Stopped with COVID, then haven't seen any reason to go back. These days the experience at home is just as good and a lot more convienent.
Pretty much. Last time I went was in 2016, and it was uncomfortable, the floor was sticky with who knows what, and the topper - found a used needle on the floor. And this was in Irvine, not some slum.
I saw a movie a few weeks ago. Air was worth it in the theatre
