2.7K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. My senior year in high school was 1980-1981. I graduated at the end of June 1981.
The song that reminds me the most of those times is "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes; it was a big hit that spring/summer of 1981 just as I was graduating. Over a 10-week period from mid-May through mid-July, that song was #1 for 9 weeks. (It was #2 for the week of 20 JUN 1981.)
Of course, because MTV would be launched on 01 AUG 1981, this was a frequent early video on MTV.

However, with constant FM radio airplay, we were forced to endure John Lennon's insufferable "Double Fantasy" album with insipid songs like "Woman", "(Just Like) Starting Over", and "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)".
This is because the album was released in NOV 1980 after a 5-year hiatus and just 3 weeks before he was assassinated on 08 DEC 1980 at age 40.
So, for pretty much most of 1981, there was little escape from that living Hell.
Don't get me wrong - I like John Lennon and his earlier work both in The Beatles and as a solo artist, but this album was painful and we were forced to endure it all because he was assassinated by a nutjob fan, Mark David Chapman.

@DubiousIntentions I'm not that old. BUT, that was a big hit song about 11 years earlier and I most definitely remember that.
In fact, I remember it from this Saturday morning TV show, ironically on the ABC network...![What song most reminds you of your senior year in high school?]()

It's the kind of energy I had at that point.
It was also one of my signature songs when I was playing guitar and singing in three man garage bands. I could play the guitar lead almost perfectly and even improvise something approximating the keyboard solo while acting like a rock star.
A couple years later I got a souped up '72 El Camino and used to blast that song when I was driving.32 Reply- +1 y
Cool. Well before my time, but Ritchie's solo on this was the first somewhat difficult one I learned note-for-note.

@LiamJHayden. Whoa, that's cool!
+1 yLet see, Eminem - without me. Nelly - hot in herre. The ketchup song. Missy Elliott - work it. P! nk - get the party started. Linkin park - in the end. I was hooked on linkin park and Eminem back then, nothing beats rock music bit Eminem is a very great contender and still after all these years

Not gonna lie, I was kind of weird growing up, I didn't start listening to music until I got to college. Why? Meh, just wasn't into it.
