It would depend on who I'm with. If I'm with a crowd of people who can't keep quiet and the killer is right in the other room, for sure I'm splitting up! I'm gone with the wind!

If I'm with people who know how to work as a team and are mature enough, I'm staying with them! And if I'm with a pretty girl and I'm not sure my chances of survival, I'm definitely staying with her. I might as well go out happy!

If anything if you were to make horror movies realistic even less people would die so what you just said.. makes no sense.
Take for example if Halloween movies were realistic Myers would of been dead a long time ago? And many people in the many films after when he should of died would never have.

In real life cases often end with more people just injured than killed and the attacker is often put-down or put-away. And there tends to be many survivors of the tragedy.

even those kids somehow managed to survived in both the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World movies. Jack Black somehow survived Skull Island. Brad Pitt, Will Smith and Jesse Eisenberg survived their respective zombie apocalypses etc.
