The mosh pit is one of my happy places, lmao. Here are a few shows that people with wider vantage points caught me in action. Normally it’d be worthless to expect people to pick me out of the crowd, but I have my crazy long blonde hair flying around in all of them so I’m easy to spot once you locate the pit.
Rage Against The Machine at Madison Square Garden, New York City…
Went down into enemy territory, so I played it low-key…. just kidding, I deliberately wore a Boston Bruins t-shirt so there’d be no mistaking where I was representing😝 Thought I would have a target on my back but nobody really had anything for me💪 Tell you what, though…. I got REAL hype when they started up Killing In The Name, and Zach De La Rocha addressed the pit directly and reminded us to “take care of each other in there”…you know he’s seen some brutal stuff go down to that song, lmao, he said that and I was ready to bang out hard.
Korn in Manchester, NH…

https://www.youtube.com/embed/KAjCwgsRK80That one was real special for me. I started and ran the pit from start to finish (although some of their less-punk, more-pop songs, or even outright slow songs, kind of screwed up the flow at points), in my hometown, in an iconic sports stadium, outdoors and raining off and on, in animal mode with my shirt off, and I just remember stopping between songs turning around, and just taking it all in, the enormity of the crowd behind me, the lights, the location, and it was just one of those main character moments when I felt like I owned my city, haha.
And I actually did have a few people come up to me at various points, or one person even outside on the street after the show, and they were dapping me up, and were like “you’re the guy from the mosh pit!” Even got the eyes from a couple of gals who probably would’ve run away laughing if I told them how old I was😂 But let me tell you, when you’re on the wrong side of 40, any time you actually feel cool, you savor the hell out of it, lmao.
Anyway, story time over, haha, but yes, I frequent mosh pits any time possible. Going to see Taking Back Sunday tomorrow night but I think there’s no pit area up front, it’s individual seating, so that’s a bummer. But I’ll be seeing Rancid in September, so I’ll be ready to ape out🦍
🤘😎
Yes numerous time. Static-X, Slipknot, Mudvayne, etc, etc. I remember being in one, w my new flip phone that had a descent camera. Getting ready to record cause I knew it was coming. Moshing started and my new phone went flying in the air after I got slammed from the side. Luckily I found it after throwing a few people out of my way. Surprisingly it wasn’t broke.
Same! Seen Slipknot 4 times. Have you been in a mosh pit?
They’re fun. Let some steam go, especially if you’re feeling upset or frustrated. Brings a type of energy that feels good. Even if you’re happy being in a mosh pit is great.

Sadly no. I suspect that'll never happen.
Several mosh pits, and they are super fun as long as they are filled with cool people and not douchebags. The larger ones get more dangerous precisely bc the douchebag factor goes way up and it messes up the whole vibe.
A good most pit will have an element of chaos, but also an element of awareness and people helping up someone who fell, and no stupid shit like punching, kicking, throwing elbows and trying to hurt people. It's about tossing yourself in and getting tossed about, but it's more like bumper cars than Mad Max Destruction Derby.
Yess been in a few. One time got really hurt cause I fell to the bottom and couldn't get up for awhile so I was getting kicked in the face. Another time lost one of my shoes and had to go home with one shoe lol
After that stuff happened I tried to avoid them
Yep. The worst or gnarliest one was at a bowling alley for a local band called ChalkLine. It got really rowdy quickly. People wore studded bracelets, chains, etc. and we’re using them but most were not doing that. It was pretty fun. I think I was maybe 17 or 18 so this was a LONG time ago. Would I hop into another one? You bet!
Yeah kind of, but mostly the 6ft 6 giants hang around there, so fuck them. Anyone over 6ft need to stay away from a gig or have their own area, cause they're fucking annoying. Why do all the tall bastards suddenly appear from out of the woodwork at a gig venue?
Once when I was 16 I went with my friend to a punk thing and they started moshing and a guy got pushed into me and elbowed me hard he was very nice and said sorry so I just went and sat down and watched everyone mosh lol
Surprisingly no considering I started listening to metal at 9 years old. I used to never go due to having the build of slenderman, but now I'm just too busy to be heavily interested.
Unfortunately I never could go to one, my social anxiety will be through the roof. I panic even in a room full of 10 people.
Yes, and some real scary ones too.
My best friends broke my nose in one a few years ago 🫶🏻
The moshpit concept came into being long after my heavy partying days ended.
Lol.
I would love to but I’m 4’11 lol people seem like they don’t care about others well beings in those
Yup. And I was in one last year for no good reason. Probably 35 years since my last moshpit.
Yes and my favourite two were at ozfest 2012 when Ozzy bought out a bloody massive snake or skindred on the multiple times I've seen them 😂😎
Yes but not until I was almost 30. I was very sore the next day.
Yeah I have and unfortunately I've got seriously annoying life long tinnitus.
nah id probably take advantage of it to hospitalize people
No as I don't go out much in general.
no but I have seen it.
Nah, I’m 4’8. I’d be smushed. 😅
