My nostalgic comfort song is The Itsy Bitsy Spider. I know it sounds silly but I love that song. I have this adorable black spider hand puppet from when I was little, named Itsy Bitsy of course! I remember me and my sister would take turns crawling it around and tickling each other with it while singing the song. We loved doing the hand motions. I still have it and love singing the song while doing the hand motions with my puppet. I love doing the hand motions, especially the part of the spider crawling up the spout and the "washing the spider out" part!
I've always thought of the Itsy Bitsy Spider as a strong girl spider. She inspires me to persevere and never give up. If you view the song that way, it really is pro girl power! I know it sounds silly but it's a song that still brings me joy when I am having a bad day. So do other people have a sentimental nursery rhyme like me? Are there other adults out there who still cherish this song? Or am I just weird? lol
Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
Mama's going to buy you a mockingbird.
If that mockingbird won't sing,
Mama's going to buy you a diamond ring.
If that diamond ring turns brass,
Mama's going to buy you a looking glass.
If that looking glass gets broke,
Mama's going to buy you a billy goat.
If that billy goat won't pull,
Mama's going to buy you a cart and bull.
If that cart and bull turn over,
Mama's going to buy you a dog named Rover.
If that dog named Rover won't bark,
Mama's going to buy you a horse and cart.
If that horse and cart fall down,
You'll still be the sweetest little boy in town.
So hush little baby, don't you cry,
Daddy loves you and so do I.

I eat my peas with honey.
I've done it all my life.
It makes the peas taste funny,
but it keeps them on the knife.
Not really, but I do sing the Barney song to somebody special. I love you, you love me we are a happy family.
