IT AIN'T HORRIBLE. I've disliked much of the latest Marvel shows and movies. And for quite a few in a row it was getting unbareably hard to watch any of them. It wasn't that there was too much but it was the fact they took the laziest and most distasteful approaches to major moments people had waited so long to see. Nothing truly gave me excitement. Then I finished Season 2 of Loki. A frickin phenomenal show. doesn't match the latest Marvel flavor at all. Its a thrill ride of a "who done it" type of show. Deals with time travel and all that in a unique way than other shows. Very character driven, and I declare it to be very close to perfection.
The Marvels is fine, Captain Marvel is very fine. Freaking Ms Marvel (Kamala Kahn) is THE MOST perfect contribution to the MCU thus far, I need to see her in everything Marvel. Monica Rambo has got best dumpy by damn far. They only snuck one far shot in there when she's flying in space, didn't even need a close up. She's a great addition to the dynamic with everyone else too, just personally not as interesting of a character just yet. She getting there though. "Black Girl Magic!" And thats really the full strength of the movie, the 3 of them just being girls who wanna have fun... it's better written than how that sounded. It's fun, a fun run. I hope people give it a chance. Worth the time and money for the good feels it can give you.
If you like cats, if you are a broadway lover, if you enjoy fun references and some beautifuly natural acting also a uniquely surprisingly impressive fight choreography... then you'll have a good time with over half the film. Same villain from Captain Marvel (Ronin) except now with breasts and a lack of blue. All this just gets shoved up the movie's ass with the cosmi-rod they both wield.
