Which type of music do you like the least? Why?
- 10 mo
Metal by far.
My dad's a heavy metal guy and often plays it on car trips. I've grown to like a good handful of songs, mostly for the raw instrumentals and emotional lyrics. The best one by far is Wrong Side of Heaven by Five Finger Death Punch. Check out these lyrics about a war veteran's struggles to understand his own morality, it's genuinely incredible:
I spoke to god today and she said that she's ashamed
What have I become?
What have I done?
I spoke to the devil today and he swears he's not to blame
And I understood because I feel the same
Arms wide open, I stand alone
I'm no hero
And I'm not made of stone
Righe or wrong, I can hardly tell
I'm on the wrong side of heaven
And the righteous side of hell
But otherwise? Metal music is just a barrage of scream-singing and pure rage that I'll never be able to relate to. Most of the time their voices aren't even comprehensible beyond the blaring instrumentals drowning them out. If you're an angry person who can feel the lyrics, you'll love it, but it's not for me21 Reply

Country music and hip hop/rap with very few exceptions. For example I do like a couple songs by Rascal Flatts, three songs by Little Big Town, and few other artists.
Most country music: Mudriding in your four wheeler or pick up truck, going to church, and living in a redneck trailer park.
Hip hop/rap: I like some of it from the 90s. As for today's, NONE of it.
Mainly nowadays, it's about smoking homies, smoking weed, fucking bitches, all these gold chains around the neck and wrist, raining money, etc..
Then it seems the majority of hip hop/rap artists have tattoos on their face that make it look like a toddler was let loose on them.

there's actually NOT an entire genre that I dislike, no...
there's plenty of bad awful music as in songs or artists, that I rather not listen but these are in ALL genres... lmao, and it doesn't make me to dislike the entire genre
now, there are certain genres that I just don't hear or listen to much of it... and this would be Country music, I just don't know much of it but I do not dislike it
and I am also sure that there's newer or older genres that I don't even know about it yet, lol
and you still owe me a song (=29 Reply- 10 mo

Country. I hate country music. There are subgenres that get exceptions most of the time (gothic country, bluegrass). And Iāll listen to Dolly Parton because sheās deserving of her position in the genre culture, but on the whole? Fuck country, I donāt need that cowboy shit
15 Reply- 10 mo
It is exactly the same as with Pink Floyd.
Most people, specially Americans, who say they hate country say so because they think if they start listening to country, somehow they will be counted as retards.
Most guys who say they love or listen to Pink Floyd, they cannot name 2 albums of Pink Floyd, let alone own them. They say it with the fear that if they dont, they will lose their Man Card; or they will not be retro cool anymore. And most women who say they love Pink Floyd say only to get in the good pages of music books of guys. - 10 mo
I mostly just hate songs about drinking beer, driving trucks, and fucking bitches

There's an old joke: What do you get if you play a country & western song backwards?
You get your wife back, you get your dog back, you get your job back, and you get your truck back! - 10 mo
Perhaps that is the reason. I do not listen to a song intellectually so a simple story makes sense to me. I do not like to listen to sonething where I have to perform mental gymnasitcs.
I am not a very intellectual or super smart person.
632 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. EDM I actually like it as a genre and I like some songs but if I'm at like a rave because I'm autistic I just get tired so fast and I just wanna go home and rest. if there's one genre that can tired me out the fastest it's electronic music or probably death metal and things like that but that's easier to avoid I've never really had to listen to any kind of metal or rock songs I didn't want to because those groups keep to themselves more but dance music gets played in so many places.
10 Reply3.3K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. Rap/Hip Hop, not that you can really call that music, followed by country which is one of the most obnoxious forms of music. Third would be manufactured bubblegum pop that corporations love to spew out year after year.

R&B, Rap or pop music like Beyonce or JLO music 👎🏼 I like SOME pop music but not beyonce style nor JLO type. Shakira's voice gets on my nerves and it's weird because I can listen to some of her songs because they're catchy and I'll be singing to them but her voice in most songs is so annoying to me.

Rap. I donāt relate to it. I hate how some women sound doing it. I donāt understand why they donāt let their voices fledge into the full octave.

Even Eminem is more melodic. It seems like rap artists are all competing to make their music as musicless as possible.

Yeah Pac was good because he put soo much emotion in his music. I grew up listening to 90 rap I also love some Al green, Sam Cooke, Lionel Ritchie, Smokie Robinson. I like Mowtown just oldies in General. Remind me of when I was a kid and would hear it family gatherings
- 10 mo
this rapper... how much would you hate all the musicality in this one mini-concert?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG6O-Qq79G0 - 10 mo
@NathanDavis I think she called herself a rapper to insert herself into a market of listeners starved for melodic music. Thatās hardly rap.

@NathanDavis nice!

- 10 mo
@love_conquers_lust got it...
so you don't really know much about hip-hop... and just go with the common stereotypes... lol "rappers can't sing, they don't know a thing about music or instruments, they just talk... no skills, no talent, it's just words" lol... - 10 mo
@7Phoenix7 and... you still have me intrigued...
- 10 mo
@NathanDavis lol how?
- 10 mo
well, I always am... haha
- 10 mo
@NathanDavis well I think you're really interesting too š
- 10 mo
@NathanDavis I know Rap when I hear it.
Those stereotypes werenāt born out of nowhere.
I hear a bunch of dudes trying to act serious and sound as deceptively emotionless as possible. They enjoy inducing fear in others. Their lyrics are violent. That does not inspire my devotion. It evokes sympathy rather than joy.
Wikipedia attempts to make Hip hop interchangeable with Rap.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_music
But it is too distinct to say they are. Chat GPT does not agree.
www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-rap-and-hip-hop
At best, Rap is a sub genre of Hip hop.
I leave you to define what you consider talent, skills, and just words for yourself.
I am no stranger to catharsis. I'd rather they talk shit than act it out. Better yet, I'd rather they not have to feel those emotions from people at all. I'd rather they not seek to destroy that which they envy.
At its core with much else in life, it's created by desire... and uncontrolled denial. - 10 mo
@7Phoenix7 where's my song though... š
I'm glad you liked it by the way... and were able to see the good stuff in it, but I knew you would too

Maybe Jazz. I can usually find something I like in almost all genres. So I'm not sure I'd count Jazz out either. But off the top of my head I can't think of one Jazz song I like.
11 Reply- 10 mo
Rap, country, certain mainstream pop, screamo
I prefer alternative/rock, indie, some metal and pop rock mix. I'll listen to anything that I find has a good tune, vocals and lyrics but I typically stick around these genres.
10 Reply - 10 mo
Country for me. I just donāt relate to it, and itās too twangy. I can get down with some of the older outlaw country, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, etc, but the modern āstadium countryā is very much not for me.

24 Reply- 10 mo
Again, not one genre but:
Rock and Pop from the 70s n 80s
Hair Bands' rock from the 80s
Modern Country - cannot listen to Johnny Cash or Clint Black kind of rock and can absolutely not stand Miranda Lambert kind too.
I only listen to albums... So for me, its the singer not the song. - 10 mo
Typo: I meant Johnny Cash and Clint Black kind of "country".

Another genre "not truly a genre" that I cannot stand is what sums up the trash they sing in American Idol. That is the worst kind of crap. I see this because I was a big fan of American idol in its initial Simon Cowell days. It did produce some good artists who actually produced successful albums.
In the past 10 years or so as time passed these younger people have not heard any good stuff from the past so did you stick to current trash. Another reason is very straightforward; You cannot have a meaningful competition without at least one British judge. Anyway my answer was about treating American Idol as a genre.
