And you'll watch it again and again because it brings serenity and a sense of ease among a sea of chaos and uncertainty. Its a reliable source of stability.
Doesn't have to be a show either. Books and games fill the same role.
Star Trek: TNG for me.
I find it the most optimistic show ever. I'm not one of those Trekkies who geeks out over starship designs and things of this nature.
The main appeal to me about the show is how well the crew get along. It almost sounds boring since they are all so incredibly mature and all conduct themselves in such a professional and courteous way. There's so little drama between the crew and most of the drama has to come from dealing with external civilizations.
It's my ultimate escapism that way. Any time I see a group of people becoming dysfunctional, I watch that show and think that, maybe one day, we'll all be able to get along.
Captain Picard is also the greatest captain in my opinion. He's my fictional role model of a near-ideal leader.
And Patrick Stewart has such an amazing voice.

@DryGermanGuy Definitely, although I like the vocal quality of the entire cast! They're all extremely well-spoken in my opinion, even Worf. There's a therapeutic quality I find to the way the entire crew speak. I really don't like the Nutreks where the cast are speaking in very contemporary ways including swearing and saying things like, "That's so cool!"
I love Star Trek but Tng was my least favorite lol
Which series did you like best? TOS is my second favorite and I enjoyed DS9 but it kind of lost the main appeal I found about TNG which is a crew that just gets along so well together.
Voyager was my favorite for the longest time right up until I saw DS9. I think DS9 knocked it out of the park. They tackles so many tough questions about the nature of star trek itself and the nature of humanity. It was the most believable "Utopia".
I ended up liking Gul Dukat the most in that one. He ended up stealing the show for me. Sisko is also a really good captain, very different in style from Picard as more a slugger and able to bend or even break more rules to get things done. I think I might enjoy DS9 about as much as TNG except for the way I'm completely in love with how well the crew get along in TNG. đ I've never seen any show quite like it where there's so little drama in between the main cast.
Quark and Nog. I hated Ferengi cause of TNG but those character arcs were simply top notch writing.
Same with respect to Ferengi! I really enjoyed the episode where Quark ended up having to marry Grilka. đ
My two cents:
I boycotted DS9 because they stole the idea from "Babylon 5" and just slapped a Star Trek label on it to use its wider fan audience.
My favorite series are: TNG, VOY and TOS.
@DryGermanGuy I enjoyed Babylon 5 as well and actually watched it alongside DS9; I enjoyed both but maybe lean slightly towards Babylon 5. I have stronger memories of the cast from it. G'Kar really stole the show for me there.
VOY always gave me a bit of a difficulty ever since that Tuvix episode. I'm in the camp that saw Janeway and her crew as thoroughly unethical in that episode.

Seinfeld. I wasnât even born when it ended but I started watching it a couple years ago. I donât know why but it always puts me in a good mood.
