Is "Shark Tale" a remembered animated classic?

Looking back and removing nostalgia - Shark Tale lowkey feels like a product of its time. I'm not saying it's forgotten, but it's one of the few Dreamworks movies that kind of maybe got stuck in the 2000's.

Even looking back some of the jokes and characters were just the actors themselves, cept it was them surrounded by water? I'm also astounded by the animation and obvious product placement lol. I get films have them inserted, but ST really went all out.

It's tough to explain.. I mean, you'd think with all those A-listers this would be a huge cultural event for cinema? Hmm..

Nah, I wouldn't say so.. I mean when I was a kid I loved the movie, and thought it was hilarious.. But looking back it definitely wasn't that great of a movie.. So I agree with you.. The animation was okay, even for it's time.. I mean Finding Nemo came out a year before and the animation still holds up pretty well.. The Incredibles came out the same year and holds up pretty well enough as well.. Yeah, the movie is pretty dated, and wasn't great even when it came out.. I was really the all star casting that did it..

You've got a good point, man. As a kid I probably loved it just because it was new animated movie with all these big celebrities I recognized. But looking back yeah, the animation was just okay even for the time.

Finding Nemo for sure blew it out of the water visually. And The Incredibles still looks awesome. Shark Tale, not so much. The humor and plot definitely don't hold up at all. I can barely even remember what was happening in the story now.

It's funny how as a kid you'll love pretty much anything that's bright and new. But once you get older you can really see which movies had actual substance and timeless quality, versus ones that were just frivolous cash grabs.

Even though as an adult today, I still love it as I grew up watching this movie and classics hits on the movie you can’t front on dat

it just shows how much the huge voice talent carried it more than the actual quality of the film. Another victim of nostalgia goggles!

Most definitely.. I've seen YouTube Critics tear into the movie, so I got that view on my side.. 😂😂.. But yeah it is nostalgia carrying the movie really.. Part of me still likes it, and it would be more of a guilty pleasure at this point..

Yeah I see a lot people talking about how stupid and terrible it was. It was bad enough that it stood out compared to everything else the company released, but was so bad at being bad that Bee Movie has gone down as a much better bad movie. It was bad at being good, bad at being bad.

it's not as popular as the main ones but it's still a classic - Dreamworks produces some of the best animated films with a good balance between aesthetics, plot, humour and depth
