Were you ever an Aerosmith fan?

After 54 years, Aerosmith announced today that they have officially retired from touring. They were forced to end their farewell tour following singer Steven Tyler's inability to recover from a vocal cord injury.

Aerosmith was the first band I ever really started to follow when I was in grade school. Dream On was always a go-to when I did karaoke nights.

I was never a huge fan of them. , but I do enjoy some of their music , I also saw them in concert a few times mainly cuz my friend that is a huge fan of them bought me tickets to go with him lol. But they did put on a good show , and I ended up enjoying it and having a good time. I prefer older Aerosmith over their newer shit , A lot of their newer shit sounds the same , Get a Grip album sounds like the same song over and over with different lyrics lol it’s Amazzzing , I’m cryiiing , it’s craaazzzy !! LOL , So to me , they turned into a Mainstream band that got annoying after awhile. But I don’t hate them , they are just a rock band that didn’t blow me away that’s all but they have some good songs and Steven Tyler is a good performer on stage

Since I started hearing them in the radio.1974 or so. By 1976 I was total fan. My favorite song of all time is Steven's ode to PTSD. Not that he planned it that way. It's supposed to be about chasing fame. Dream On was penned when he was the ripe old age of 17. It still hits me thr same as always. I same them in Shreveport in early 88 on their comeback tour for Permanent Vacation. They done every hit in their bag. Tyler was a maniac and I feared he would fall down. He didn't and never missed a note for 3 hours. I saw them again in 2003. They were not as banging because they had a whole new list if songs they played. I'm of the band of the 70s and a bit here and there since. Greatest hits has most of what I like all but Train Kept A' Rollin.

I like their 70s albums, but never liked anything else they did. I did see them live once and they were amazing. All live, no backing tracks.

I am surprised they have lasted this long.

I love it when bands are able to do that. That was also Creed's mentality. They wouldn't do anything in the studio that they couldn't do live. I think Metallica has done likewise, though No Leaf Clover doesn't sound as great without the orchestra.

I remember as far back as 2016 that Aerosmith were gearing up for what they called the "Aero-vederci Tour". KISS announced their retirement in 1996 and only actually called it quits a year or two ago. AC/DC wants a do a ten-year farewell tour. A lot of these guys just can't let it go.

I enjoy a radio station that gives background information on songs and they said “Walk this way” was when the band went out to dinner and the hostess seating them said “walk this way” so they all started repeating it and it evolved into the song.

I'd never heard of them until they teamed up with Run DMC for Walk This Way! I've not really heard of them much since either, oh except for when Stephen Tyler appeared on Two and a Half Men!

Oh yeah. I first saw them in around 1971. I saw them quite a few times.

What's interesting is, their early albums were killer, but their live performance weren't quite 100%. I think they were too drunk and fucked up.
It wasn't until later years that they started taking their live concerts seriously and became an A+ quality band.
