My wife and I saw the Gladiator II movie yesterday. It's a very good film, an interesting sequel to the original Gladiator film from 2000.

Have you seen it? Do you plan to see it? If you've seen it, how would you rate it?

I saw it, lots of action n surprises.

But it put in woke themes that whites are rotten in contrast to blacks are the wise master race in numerous scenes.

Even specified To rise from "slave to slave owner".

It showed the horrible gladiator brutality as people cheered... probably true but showed the horrific attitude people had , to enjoy that stuff!

makes me wonder how many watch the movie just because society prevents actual gladiator fights, so need film so they can enjoy that brutality.

It puts a new spin on those who enjoy horror films, chainsaw massacre, scream series etc.

The black dude played by Denzel Washington is literally the villain of the movie. The origin Gladiator also had black female archers, no one was screaming woke back then. Don't get me wrong, I think Gladiator II is a bad film, but you people are so sensitive, literally anything is woke according to you.

I haven't seen it. I might go, but I haven't made up my mind yet.

I hear it's a solid movie, but the original didn't really need a sequel.

Is it the kind of movie that benefits from the theater experience?

Haven't seen it yet but I've heard it's a bit slow and not as good as the original.

@purplepoppy Sequels are never as good as the original, and this one doesn't beat the original, but it surprised me. My wife almost always complains that I fall asleep at movies... I didn't fall asleep at this one.

The original is a textbook example of a great movie that doesn't need a sequel or prequel. Based on what I've heard... Ridley Scott should've retired a decade ago.

I have not seen it yet, but I plan to. In my mind I've been wondering how they will do it since the lead character in the original dies at the end. My guess is someone from the Senate will rise to lead and someone will oppose him.

I'll probably wait until it makes it to streaming. The original was one of my favorite movies in recent times. I've heard that this one is good but not nearly as groundbreaking as the first one.
