My boyfriend insults my parents and it makes me angry?

My parents and I have had some issues in the past that I have told him about that have made him angry. My parents used to get angry with me and make me depressed, but I still love them anyways. I showed him pictures of my parents and he laughs. He says my mom looks old and he calls her a bitch sometimes, and he calls my dad an asshole. It makes me mad because I am grateful for what my parents have done for me. I don't want him to meet my parents and start an argument with them or something. What should I do? I don't want to break up with him because I love him a lot. It just makes me so angry when he insults my parents, however.

I talked to him about it and he stopped and hasn't brought it up since.

@RainbowFanGirl, as wise as I am and as amazing a girl and highly Intelligent as YOU are, you need to do some serious soul searching here, dear.
This Guy that you say you love with all of your heart and soul is a Mole for Insulting your own flesh and blood. I find him Disrespectful, controlling and it will come a point in time down this not so fine line, where he will Demand you make a choice, them or him, and even begin anew beguine of Mentally and physically abusing you as well.
You can do better than with someone who doesn't even know your folks. And even with knowing them, he will find ways to fight them, fight with them, and what kind of relationship is this?
You deserve far better and you need to think harder. He is showing his true colors and I don't care for what I am Seeing... A yellow stripe down his back is what he needs to complete his problem pattern package.

If he doesn't respect your parents that means he probably doesn't respect you as much as he should. It's an early sign of a red flag, think about in the future, do you see them getting along or are things just going to get worse? I would stop complaining about your boyfriend to your parents and stop complaining about your parents to your boyfriend. They only form the opinions they have of one another through what you say to each party so keep it neutral. If your boyfriend truly cares for you, he should try harder to be kind to your parents because they are a big part of your life whether he likes it or not. Parents are irritating when you're a teen but honestly most of the time they know what's good for you but you probably won't realise it for a few years yet. Good luck and don't dump him just for this, tell him to grow up and be nicer to your folks if he wants this to work.

Thanks for the great advice. Should I try talking to him about it? He knows it makes me angry. Just today he apologized for it. Should I just tell him to not do it anymore because it makes me mad? I mean, I have trouble speaking up so it may be hard for me.

At least he apologised for it? That's a good sign. Yep I don't see any harm in telling him that it makes you sad and hopefully he will stop. Or just ask him why he hates your parents so much? Like why does he have to be so insulting? Tell him to just let it be.

They are still you parents at the end of the day, they probably don't realise that's what you feel like. It's important that you don't vent anger out about one to the other as that really will create a bad image.

There's a time when you need to listen and support someone and a time when you need to shut up, listen when they need you but don't be disrespectful and he sounds disrespectful.

It crosses boundaries when you start insulting someones family just because your girlfriend was stressed out and went to her boyfriend for support and he needs to realize the difference.

You should tell him exactly how you feel, that you understand he doesn't have a good impression of them and appreciate him sticking up for you and supporting your feelings but that you still respect/love your parents and that he needs to respect that as well.

My ex boyfriend used to do that too and it was extremely annoying. He also had a habit of being very over involved in my life and my feelings. I think they think they are helping but they need to learn boundaries also.

I will. He apologized earlier. I'll talk to him about it soon. It really makes me angry because even though they sometimes emotionally abuse me I still respect them and he should too. I just hope he makes a good impression on my parents when I introduce him to them.

This is a sign of a manipulator. He's taking advantage of the things you told him to put you off your family so he can have more control over you. It's a selfish thing for him to do and not in your best interest at all. You deserve someone who doesn't say those things. It's going to get worse and worse.

have u confronted him about this? because he needs to be. also, i'd give him some sort of warning that if he ever says or does anything hurtful to ur family, ur relationship will be threatened. even if u dont mean it in the moment, u gotta shake him up.
