What would you do if you see a underage kid smoking?

I’d sit down with them and have a conversation about how they started smoking and why they chose to keep doing it. I’d keep myself from passing judgment or trying to “tell them what to do,” but instead get them to see me as someone who’s decent and is overall a decent person.


Kids are people. We tend to forget that and talk to them without any sort of reasoning. We expect them to unconditionally listen/trust us but undermine their ability to think and feel. Most people don’t listen to random people who preach to them. We listen to people who we feel respect and care about us.


So I’d just listen to the kids story and hopefully they’d open up. Then I would explain how their are healthy alternatives to smoking that won’t give them health problems. I’d also tell the kid my story and how I had tough times growing up too. I’d tell them that I tried smoking and drinking at one point but chose not to again because I found out healthier ways to cope and overcome my problems.


Of course I would take the cigarette at the end of the talk. I’d tell them sorry and that I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t. However I’d also say I won’t be there to take it away next time and that ultimately the choice is theirs. I would encourage them not to smoke but In a non-authoritative way. I’d talk as if I was a friend

Well I live in Romania so I'd probably get slapped by their parents if I did anything, they wouldn't believe me if I told them their kid smoked.

If it’s a friend or family member I will tell them it’s unhealthy and if it’s a stranger I will mind my ow Len business cause you could get killed for interfering in somebody else’s life

also you don’t know why they are smoking - maybe they were sexually molested and can’t afford anti-depressants
