Absolutely. Actually, it’s bad for most people to have a cell phone. We are totally out of control, and destroyed our own minds with these things. Check out the Joe Rogan podcast https://open. spotify. com/episode/4tu5P35SSCM2nlv34dX9U9? si=mbzrubR0Sd6w-mQF6skCGw
I've had a cellphone since 3rd grade. That was though back when the only fun thing about them was ring backs and be jeweled lol. But if you wanna be able to be in contact with your child when you want I think it's a great idea before I got my cellphone my dad made me walk around with a walkie-talkie lol
it depends on how old the kid is. If the kid is as old as the group on the front (the pic u chose) then def don't give them a phone. What i mean by that is those kids won't understand the dangers of the internet etc and anyways why do they need phones its not like they are trying to bag deals during school times XD. If your kid is 14-15 and they take the bus or something then yh sure give them a phone just because you know where they are etc and by that age they understand whats right and whats wrong.
pretty much, a phone is absolutely not neccersary for kids who are in primary school or in year 7. Just because their friends have one doesn't meant they should have one too. In my eyes i see that as unresonable parenting but tbh its their kid and if they feel like their kids ready for it its up to them. In reality this thought of giving your kid a phone really should be popping up while they are in in year 9 or 10 or when you feel like they are ready for it.
A simple phone will do... with all the "access" to today's media is maddness... porn, murder, incest, insigation to do harm, etc, etc... no wonder when they grow up they end up doing weird/fucked up shit! Smoking/drinking/drugs/fights/killings, where they get "all tgus stuff" from? MEDIA! No matter where they find it, Phone, Tv, Laptop, Pc, etc...
I don't have kids so i don't know how or what to respond with. But i can differences between my childhood and todays kids childhood and the creativity level is so low with kids today, but they have some great fantasies but still not much action. I might be delusional but this is what am seeing now days.
I wouldn't buy them a phone until theyre in at least 12. And my mom didn't allow me to take my phone to school until i reached college. So if until then, i may go old school and buy them a pager to start using at age 5. Lol I don't know how to work that myself, but i’ll figure it out. My kids just won't have ipads, iphones and laptops at a young age 🤷♀️
a child should have a cell phone to call mom and dad to let them know to pick child up from - school , sports and such - but the child should be band / blocked from playing games and such on it ! the phone should be used for transportation help only ! thanks
I think if their like 14 or 15 their old enough but it should be monitored with everything there is on there but a phone is good to have nowadays in case of emergency's. I remember back before the smart phones when i was 13 a i had a button phone and got in big trouble. I didn't get a smart phone till 16 i believe.
No just like a computer it can be controlled! It can be an amazing tool for a parent and the child to talk text follow them with GPS even know their blood sugar level! Again control it be setting up limitations and monitor it all in balance with their age.
I would get mine dumb phone, where I would be able to call or text, but no internet capability, but tracker on separately so I know where they are. Untill s/he is 16, then for good behaviour I would buy smartphone.
But I don't have them and not planning to have them in near future, maybe it's a good think.
I got my first phone when I was 12 and I believe that is the best time for it. I was going to a high school far away from home that I would not walk to and from so I needed to call and text my mum. In primary school I didn't need a phone but when going into high school it became a necessity
No, I think it's good for them to be able to remain in contact with their parents, and even their friends. Of course one has to be careful about the possible misuse
If the kids are old enough to use a phone then get them one. My two nephews have phones and they are 10 and 13 years old. I have two nieces who are 6 years and 3 years old who don't have phones though at their age, I wouldn't see them knowing how to use a phone.
Yes, they are just developing and learning. It is so easy to use. It is better to get a PC with no net then a cell. Then you can put healthy games on it like (sim city 4, and RTS games, tycoon games are good as well) all train your mind to think and be creative solve the problems and so much more. It will help with school as well
I think it should be managed the way parents managed television when I was a kid. They should only be able to have access to the phone for a certain amount of time each day. It's okay if they learn about it because it will be a necessity for them at some point. But don't rob them of their childhood mental and physical health by getting them addicted to something that keeps them from getting fresh air, exercise and IRL socialization. Those are the things a kid needs most.
Yes, it’s bad for a child to have a cell phone but better if the purpose of the phone is for the parents to contact the child (and vice versa). Save the internet for computers at home.
Well it depends on how old the child is and what their maturity level is as far as what they value. With cell phone addiction becoming socially accepted and more and more on the rise it would be much easier for a "child" to begin bad habits.

A call-only cell phone is a good idea. A smartphone is not a good idea until mid-teens.

How old is the child and what kind of cellphone?
It's not bad. If anything, it's good to teach the kid how ro responsibly use their tech.
Just depends on age of child and the ability/technology for the parent to police the usage and history and set parameters for them
Well it depends on how old the child is and what their maturity level is as far as what they value. With cell phone addiction becoming socially accepted and more and more on the rise it would be much easier for a "child" to begin bad habits.
