Guys, could you kick your father's ass?

Could you kick your dad's ass or at least be equal to him in a one-on-one fight? When you were say, 18 to 19, years old.

Someone said how today's generation is so soft, our own fathers could kick our asses, but they meant current age fathers, not even back when the sons were younger. Do you agree with him?

Yeah, I could kick my dad's ass at 18-19, or equally hold my own against him.

No, I couldn't kick my dad's ass cause he's tougher than me.

Well, my father is who mainly trained me in martial arts (boxing and taekwondo, some wrestling). I went further into learning Muay Thai and a bit more training with wrestling. My dad is incredibly trained in martial arts and served in the military so he has experience but I have youth, size and strength with experience as well. Honestly, it could go either way if it was down to it. I like to think I can but I’m not too cocky to acknowledge how dangerous he is

To add about the update @ , I think that’s some what true but not entirely, I know I can manhandle a lot of different peoples fathers if I ever had to fight them. Like both my step dad and dads are former military and would probably crush a tournament if it came down to combat.

So when kids were like my dad could kick your dads ass, I’d be like I have a dad and a step dad, both of them are dangerous

In high school I competition fought so I am sure I could have. But my step father ( the dad I had at that time) was a mean SOB so though I may have won the fight I would've lost the war.

I actually say with pride even with me in my 40s and him close to 80 that I probably can't. He's a judo expert. The few times I fought with him in the past, even in my early twenties with superior strength and stamina to him (I can outrun him, outlift him), I'd find myself in a chokehold and helpless against the wall.

I even cried a few times in my early 20s because I was pissed off at him for everything because I was paying his rent, I bought his car, etc. Then I came home drunk and tried to complain about it and we ended up in a fistfight that ended up with him choke-holding me and I couldn't find any way to get out of it while he was saying he was sorry for losing his job and that he loved me.

But he's a badass. I've fought other people and I'm not a great fighter but if I lose, I never lose that quickly as I do to my dad. He knows exactly how to move to put you into submission, and in spite of his arthritis and veins popping everywhere and body full of scars, his grip strength is legendary. You ask him for help to open a pickle jar and he breaks the whole thing. Like the glass actually explodes from his grip strength.

He is a WW2 veteran as well and has faced really harsh conditions. I'm so spoiled that I think I did well just not eating food for three days straight and thinking I'm hungry. He is on a whole different level,. The last thing I think about him is soft. He is hard as steel, titanium. You can't move him. That's actually what frustrates me about him. His mind is like his body. He is in survival bullet-dodging starvation mode 24/7.

But I'm not that weak. I posted pics of my fitness before on here. I can lift. I can run. I am a decent athlete, even at my age. But I am not a battle-hardened starvation-mode soldier ready to kill people on site for a loaf of bread. My father is that.

I used to hate my father growing up. My mother divorced him and she talked shit about him a lot. I didn't trust her but I also didn't like him because he developed a bad reputation for getting into fist fights with his bosses and kicking their asses and losing his job. But by 20s or so, even though I had to pay for his rent, his food, his clothes, his car, etc, I realized he is badass. Very flawed in one way but maybe one of the greatest of men I met in another.

I think my dad would have given me a run for my money. It probably would have been fairly even. My dad was a tough SOB. I am a tough SOB. Frankly if it had ever come to that it wouldn’t have been quick or clean for either of us and most likely would have gone all 12 rounds. Even though my dad had more than 20 years on me, I’m positive he could handle most 18 or 19 year olds at that time with ease. Even in his 50’s and 60’s I’m positive he’d lay out most people half his age.


He used to shoot pool for wagers when he was younger and often enough had to collect money from people by force who wouldn’t honor their bets. My uncles told me the stories. He always got his money. He also used to throw coffee mugs in the air and punch them out of the air, shattering them with his fists for bets too. It would be ill advised for most to get into a physical altercation with him even in his old age. He raised me to be tough and strong. So, yeah, it would have been a serious brawl between us and probably would have ended in a draw as neither of us would back down and neither would probably get the better of the other.

No my dad was strong af. Dude beat the shit out of a cop and 4 security guards while in a concussion at the hospital, broke the cop's arm too. They put him in leather straps and he busted out of that too. Plus he worked on a farm since 8 and was a 2nd degree black belt in Jujitsu. A guy from an MC tried to hijack his car and he laid him out with one hit too. Broke his nose and had that dude seeing stars. I'll say straight up I'm in my dad's shadow in terms of strengths, feats, achievements, all that jazz.

@update each generation is getting visibly and mentally weaker. This always happens in time of abundance and peace. We stagnate till the next big conflict that nearly wipes us out or puts entire groups of men to the test through serious hardships (usually horrible violence).

I only really met my father when I was 18, but yes I could kick his arse. That's not much to my credit though; he'd be 70 back then. He's in somewhat good shape and keeps active in the garden, but with old bones, slow speed, and some minor maladies I doubt he'd win.

Am 18, my dad's 45 and ig i can beat that old man's ass (he still very strong but slow af tho). Now lets say i am against his 18 year old self, i have seen his undergrad pics, he was skinny af then, so it'd be even easier if I'm against that lol.

Not at 18 or 19. I was 6" taller but he was tougher. He had made it all the way through the European campaign in WWII. A few years later I probably could have kicked his ass if it came down to it, but he was a gentle man who would never have hurt me and I wouldn't have tried to hurt him.

When I was 18 my father was 45 - yea he'd beat the crap out of me - Now after training I do like to think I'd be able to do that - But out of respect - I still think he beats me up

I tried when I was younger like early teens and it didn’t work out very well it turns out three tours in Vietnam and one in Korea (or maybe it was just 2 in Vietnam not sure) as a marine beats a year or so in kárate and at 18 I was grown enough not to try maybe not much more grown cause I was still needing to grow up some more but when the time came we just got loud with each other I did a lot of stupid shit in my life I’m glad I only tried that one time I love my dad
