Do you think it's cruel and a violation of a child's rights, to pierce their ears as a baby?

Do you think that a child should be old enough to consent to getting their ears pierced or is it fine if a parent decides for their child to get them pierced when they are too young to say yes or no.

I didn't get any piercing till i was 12. I first got my ears pierced then 6 years later got a nose ring.

Sure, the baby wouldn't remember the pain but you can't guarantee that they won't feel it again when they get older. Plus babies are innocent little things, they dont understand why they feel pain when the piercing is done. So it would be a no-no to me.

I don’t think it’s cruel and I don’t judge parents who do it.
I have a daughter and I didn’t want to pierce her ears as a baby because I thought it would be better to let her decide when she’s older. she's 6 now and she just asked me to get them recently. I’m gonna let her do it but she’s a little nervous about the pain so I told her I’m gonna get a piercing with her so we can bare through the pain together 😅

My late Uncle's wife would be my Aunt through marriage she is Italian and believes in piercing a baby girl's ears and it happened.

Yesss hurts the baby. Should just wait till they're old enough to say they want earrings. Like my parents got my ears done when I was only 2 months old. I have many piercings now so this didn't save me any pain. Would have been no big deal for me to get them at 8(got second holes pierced then) instead of as a baby.

I don't know about cruel, but maybe yeah let them make that decision for themselves... Both my daughters got their ears pierced when they were 13

I say it fine in fact as a baby you don't know if you want to when older then it would hurt as baby you have no memory
