Why did this girl in my friendship group criticise me for no reason?

So I’m in a friendship group with two girls. Sometimes we meet one on one or in a group. The girl who I am closer to invited me out for drinks with her just the two of us. And then I noticed that the other girl invited herself along to the evening because she texted my friend and asked what she was doing and when my friend said she was meeting me she wanted to join us both.

When she was there I kept getting weird vibes from her, that she was uncomfortable with my presence. I was being chatty and talking about how I’m struggling at work. My friend left to get a drink and then the other girl turned to me and said “if I were you I’d stop talking about work you are upsetting Alice and I don’t think she wants to hear you being negative, so just be mindful of what you say in future”. I was really shocked by this and it took me by surprise because I thought I had been fine and she didn’t mind me talking about work.

I met up with my friend recently just the two of us again and I was really conscious about not saying anything about work because the other girl had scolded me for it, so I said to my friend “sorry for boring you about work you probably don’t want to hear about it” but she told me she likes it when I talk about work because it’s distracting her from a bad breakup she’s been through recently.

I say talk your friend about this and see if this other girl was correct. She sounds like a Karen.
