What should I do about moving?

To make it short and simple I’m planning on moving states to live with my friend because my family is emotionally abusive. I have to do it in secret because they dont want me moving there (I’ve already tried telling them) and i wanna leave as soon as tomorrow however i gotta go by plane but is it risky to buy a plane ticket that short of notice? Also i wanna leave cuz i can't stand my job anymore its too stressful at this point. So what should i do?

Sounds to me like even though you need a way out, you also need more planning. To just pick up and go like this is not easy. I'm not sure how you pack all your belongings in secret. Are you certain no one will notice this?

I'm not even sure it would be possible to go unnoticed. I suppose your parents work and perhaps you could get out then. However, are you going to have some help from friends to move all your things?

How are you going to get them to your new destination too? Airlines only allow so much luggage with you. To pick up and start over in a new country would seemingly require a whole bunch of stuff.

The plane ticket is the least of the issue. Sure, you can get one but it will be expensive on short notice. I think the bigger problem is the lack of plan here. Do you have a new job? A place to stay? Sufficient funds to survive while searching for employment? I think you get the picture.

While I do sympathize for your difficult situation, it does seem like you need to sort the plan out more than you have.

You are an adult and therefore, your parents have no saying about what you want to do. Even if they disagree with you moving in with your friend, they cannot legally prevent you from doing it.

On the other hand, you have to be cautious about that part because, should your relation fail and you have to return home, they may not want you back. If you have no job, you may find yourself in the streets. Think it well.

Buying an airplane ticket for tomorrow is no problem. However, the shorter the departure time, the more expensive the tickets because airlines are aware that those leaving tomorrow or on short notice have not much choice. The prices do reflect this trend.

Finally, you want to leave your job but have no other job waiting for you. That is very risky in today's economy and again, I would think it over or at least have a job waiting for you rather than to leave without another source of income.

If I might make a suggestion. instead of taking all your stuff, go light, and spend a few weeks with your friend to see if you get on well, because there is a definite danger you could be going from the frying pan into the fire!
