The two things are not mutually exclusive. A teen can in the words of the parent, "have it easy," and yet not have mental health issues or be involved with drugs. It's obviously a different story if a teen is saying to a parent, "I'm struggling with my mental health," and the response is, "why, when you have it so easy." Having it easy can refer to much more than just serious life issues, aka, you have it easy because you don't have to walk to school everyday, and they did as kids.

Sadly, a lot of people don't take kids and teens seriously. Just because they are young that doesn't mean they don't have problems or don't go through some stuff. I think that many people minimize teens' feelings. If you complain about something, the answer is like you said ''You have it so easy'' or ''You are young and just started living, what do you have to worry about''. There is quite a lot of pressure on kids/teens that people and parents tend to overlook. I think we should work more on raising mental health awareness, both when it comes to kids/teens and in general.
Allism. They forget what it's like to actually BE a teenager, and only remembering the good parts, think that's all there was to it- and all there IS to it.
Imagine if they had to live on farm and the chores? None of them would make to age 13.
