What's it like to live in a broken home?

I think that's the correct term. My parents were married for 40 years until my mom died of cancer when I was 23. Just curious how it is when they get divorced and you have to do the whole switching from dad to mom thing.

Even though my mom chased me over my dad, I continued to live in that household.. but had my mother died, I would have moved out in a heartbeat. Not that she had any good influence on connecting me to my dad, but just because I guess I was closer to her than my dad. Pretty much disowned him.

I think one child always gets along better with one parent more than the other. Not sure if it's like a good cop bad cop type of thing or what, but I always got along with my mom better. She was kind of the peace keeper in the family.
