How bad is it to default on rent?

I plan on paying my dad less than 25% what I usually pay him each month due to credit card demands. My dad will never hit me or punish me but he might yell at me and be rude for a few days or months. My mom doesn’t love me and would want my money even if I was homeless but I told her if she treats me bad, I will ignore her when she is old and too weak to take care of herself. She is dying right now so she has to at least pretend to love me until she is dead to make sure she has access to my help.

Just because its your family in this situation I still wouldn't get in the habit of doing it. As you do it here, then you will likely do it in other places. Not 100% but I have seen it happen a few times.

Once you do, there is a chance that you will end up further behind because now there the credit card, now piling up with the back rent owed. (This is if you are renting elsewhere)

Why not talk to your father instead and let him know what is going on. A lot more of the time if you approach the person you are planning on doing this to and give them the situation. You will be happy to find, when you take the initiative and are honest, they will be more willing to work with you over it.

Bad, if there was any meaningful consequences, like eviction or going to court. You'll be fine, it's your dad.

What is your credit card debt from? Anything specific? Or just random stuff?
