In our family, we put balloons up on the living room ceiling for you. You get your favorite dinner and favorite dessert (not necessarily cake) and you don't have to do chores for the day (although that last part seems to never to work out for me).

No real traditions. My family was always against traditions. Except for the song… lol! But I have pretty much always had some sort of acknowledgment the day of and a party of some sort around it. I had to wait almost a month one year for the party and I remember it being a total surprise too. But it was fun!!

personally, I do not like to celebrate my own birthdays so I tend to ignore them, but, I never ignore the ones of others and I do celebrate them, lol... hope you're having a great time and day as well

No when I was 21 I got a 6 pack of beer it taste blunt like coffee. I did not like it much. When I was little we use to have cake and ice cream. I sometime tell my friends happy birthday on FB but it to hard to remember all their birthdays. Just do something nice for yourself today. happy birthday !

Before the pandemic - we had a 16 year tradition of visiting buffets every birthday since nearly all of them gave you free food if you bought paying guests to join you on the birthday bash. After the pandemic, it was barbecue burgers at home or Taco Bell or Red Lobster.
