I think my mom is in early stages of dementia. She’s had a really bad memory the last few years and it’s getting to the point where she’s making up stories and accusing people of stealing things from her. Which are similar to stories I’ve heard about dementia. My siblings and I are working on getting her checked out.
its a little scary 😬

My grandmother caught a milder form of dementia right around her 90th birthday. She more or less lost the last 20 years and much of her short-term memory. She also had the theft fixation a few times for things she misplaced in the retirement home. But you could still have conversations with her and she recognized all of us.
Some go back to their childhood days and some just get plain nasty.
It is unfortunate that they get this way. Because most wouldn’t recognize themselves in the condition that they have become.
Very hard for the caregivers to handle.
Until you take care of someone in that condition. You have no idea of how things really are! Good luck!
My Aunt did and it was hard to watch. She though she saw snakes in her back yard and thought relatives that were dead were coming in her house and stealing paintings.
