Taking care of somebody with dementia is a lot of work. I can’t. I need some advice on how to take care of somebody with dementia?

My dad has dementia and not getting any money better. It’s really hard to take care of somebody like that and I hate to see him. Does anybody took care of anybody with dementia what do you do? Tell me to quit my job but I need money I trying to get him a lot help but so hard for seniors to get any help he 82 years old thanks

That depends on if you want him to remain in your home or not.

The apartments that I am living in were assisted living apartments and took care of some people here that had dementia.

If you need help with him and want him to remain in your home, the only thing that I have any experience with in financially getting you some money for taking care of him.
Almost every State in America has medicaid benefits and within those benefits are family caregivers that the State will pay you to take care of him, and if it's someone outside the family, they come in your home and give caregiver help and the State pays them.
Now, I have to assume you live in America or everything I tell you won't apply.
But there is a system nationwide similar to calling 911 for the paramedics or police but you call 211 instead. They are founded by the United Way and they refer people for just about anything!
They could be a good resource to get referrals and maybe there might be an organization that someone comes out to your home and teaches you how to take care of a loved one with Dementia.
That's really all I know.

Took care of my grandma with that and it takes a huge tole. My advice is to take care of yourself then take care of them.

What ever happens why will be ok till you get there. If not work has to come first for your life and theirs.

Get family friends and coworkers to help if needed what ever will help. This is a long hard road you can't run yourself out in 1 or 2 years.

It will probably take 10 so work on taking care of you mentally!

Sooner or later you will have to find a care facility for him, as it will be too dangerous for him to stay at home. Watch the Louis Theroux BBC documentary on dementia diseases.
