Do you have a better relationship with your father or your mother?

Question

Despite our ups and downs, overall I've always had a more active and better relationship with my mother - my father was always very avoidant. I always used to consider him neglectful, but now I see he was extremely reclusive and introverted, and I'm not surprised that my eldest sister had the best relationship with him because she is similar.

While my mother is more open, hot and cold and somewhat histrionic, and those are traits she passed down to my late sister and me.

Thankfully they're beneficial in different ways. Love them both to pieces and am thankful I became their child. Though I do sometimes wish I was born in a more affluent family, but I did really have that in the Phiilippines. It was only here when we moved to America that I felt like we went from "Big Fish in a Small Pond" to A "Small fish in a Big Pond"! But I really did love my childhood and teenhood enough that I wouldn't have it any different! I had a great, normal and safe childhood and adolescence, mainly because of their combined efforts, mine and my biology growing up, and a bit of my extended relative's help. It's only now in my adulthood that things are VASTLY different and with guys, are a whole different story lol. But other than that, omg, THANK YOU to whoever contributed or was responsible for me being an 80's baby and a 90's child! My God!!

Mom, I was more like her and she was the one that was around most. But my dad gave his love in his way and I'm lucky to have had him as my father. He lived through hell and passed on a good life to the kids. I see it more now than when I was younger. I was fortunate to have 2 steady, present parents.

That said, they weren't perfect people and admitted to that. Mis them!

Both of my parents have passed away. When they were both alive, I probably had a better relationship with my father... we did lots of things together. After my father died, I had a good relationship with my mother. So, I guess the answer to your question is: Both, at different times.

My father died in 2007. He was a very self-centered person and I did not have much respect for him because he was unfaithful to my mother for most of the 35 years they were married.

My mother suffers from a lack of education and a smplistc view of the world, but she is a good person.

My father is dead. My mother is a selfish, vindictive cunt and the closest thing to pure evil that i’ve ever witnessed firsthand. It’s worth noting that i don’t believe in “evil” per se.
I’d saw my mother’s head off every day for the rest of my life for one minute each day with my father. She doesn’t deserve to live the way she does and he didn’t deserve to die the way he did. This is the only source of regret in my life.

My father didn’t treat my mother well. It made me lose respect for him by age 8. Ironically I still lean to liking men more than woman too. Anyhoo.. everyone loved my mother. Come to think of it he probably had a Prince Charles envy thing going on with my mum. She did get along with everyone (respectfully)

I have a great relationship with both of them, but I do talk to my mother than my father about things as she is more helpful overall.

My dad is great in other things though too, and I do talk to him almost daily as well.

I mean he got me a drill for Christmas so I can fix my fence, but then said... nope this summer I'm coming over to do it for you, that's your gift.

Definitely my mother. There are very obvious reasons for this, but I'm not going to hit the word count ranting about my dad. My mom is also a problematic asshole, but I love her more than anyone hahah.

As a young child, my relationship was best with my mother. As an adult, my relationship deteriorated with my mother and grew stronger with my father.

My mother, she taught me a lot about the world and things in general. I've always looked up to her, especially now that I'm older, as I've always thought she embodied a lot of the ideal traits I thought a mother and a woman ought to be like.

It was usually my mother most times, I get along my dad but was always closer to my mom until but she passed away 17 years ago, my dad is still around though

When they were alive I had a better relationship with my father. My parents split up and he married someone else and I was angry for a while but eventually I was a little more understanding.
