If it was my kid, I would want him/her to hear whole phrases and sentences. I don't understand the ''Agoo'' nonsense some adults do with their babies.
Even though more women do it, I actually find it idiotic. What's the point of baby talk?

Good question. I was told I spoke straight and clear since almost birth basically, and that my purpoted sibling could not put two words together.
But that was by my purpoted parents - people who stole me from my biological parents or fosters and... well, it is impossible to know whether anything they say is true.
My thought regarding this topic would be - would you from the beginning treat your child as a future adult that will one day marry a person they are not related to (not the same family and not 1st cousins at least).
And do you then actively seek a 2nd cousin or further that your own child might like as their future love (r)/husband/wife - or do you leave it to your own child to figure out themself? Or do you actively delude them to they remain dependent on you?
Most people I have met actively deluded their (perhaps also stolen) children. Maybe they were deluding themselves too.
wow that's quite a story. I'm sorry to hear you got stolen from your biological parents or fosters.
Apologies for my ocassional spelling errors - the phone touchscreen keyboards are not half as good as the original IBM PC keyboards were (deep click and ergonomical).
I don't believe being stolen or 'adopted' is remotely unusual - in my view, over 50% of people we casually meet are not biological children of the leople who raised them, most often unknowingly. In the Netherlands older people are disrespected as standard because of that.
My story might be unique for other reasons, but, the entire former Ottoman Empire was founded on theft of babies - some got saved from it and made into Sultans (tzars) - but according to me it was part of artifically created suffering for parents whose children were then taken away to Carigrad/Istanbul/Constantinople (3 names for the same city).
Most of the people from that... history, still consider human trafficking not only leval, but completely necessary. I... understand a lot of their motives, but disagree about too many topics - and for many of them disagreement is not allowed (in fact, to verbally attack is not, which I never do - both the Ottomans and me very tolerantly know how to mutually respect in silence - even to provide emotional, or thought, support, them to me, and me to them - but it's a dynamic not possible except for high IQ/very brainy people; people who stole me are not very brainy and are at odds both with Ottomans and with Catholics - I do not interfere with that as I have too much respect for upper echelons of Ottomans and for most Catholics (as well as for many otger people and ways, or methods, of thinking and being).
Baby talk, also known as infant-directed speech or child-directed speech, is a type of speech that adults use when communicating with young children. It is characterized by a high-pitched, exaggerated intonation, exaggerated pitch contours, and slowed-down speech rhythm. The point of baby talk is to engage and communicate effectively with infants and young children, as well as to help them learn and acquire language. Research suggests that baby talk helps to capture a child's attention, provides them with crucial acoustic information for speech perception and language learning, and promotes bonding between the adult and child.
Same as a 12 years old canât go to college yet he has to wait his time and learn whatâs to learn by that point. Take it easy nothing wrong with it if you want you can speak to your 8 months old as a toddler. And what an achievement by 1st grade they are ahead of their classmates like itâs already a competition. Nice
Its true, babies comprehend regular talk better and will actually try to communicate in return. But i just find the goo goo gaga so adorable that i catch myself talking like that even to adults 😭😂🤣 Im very nurturing
My mom works with kids and infants and she wants to smack me when i talk in baby talk to themm. The babies totally prefer regular talk đ I love seeing them look at me like iâve lost it though

Sure you can talk to them like how you talk to adults but they're gonna have a harder time to adjust. Baby talk is a way adults adjust to a baby by showing them body languages or how babies express for them to feel more comfortable with adults. It's like asking what's the point of teaching preschoolers basic math when we could just teach them algebra.
There are easy songs for babies and simple words too. For instance you can still say to the baby ''You are such a pretty baby, show me a smiley face'' or ''I love you so much, you mean so much'', etc
Yes there are but they can barely understand it. What they can feel however is the oxytocin of how you talk to your baby
With a caring, sweet voice... they will feel the emotions within those sweet words. I just saw a video of a father singing a short song to his baby daughter. Whenever he said the word ''beautiful'' the baby smiled.
That's the oxytocin i was talking about. And it comes out when you compliment your baby. But your baby cannot understand it. They can feel the love however. But if they aggressively say "beautiful" the baby will interpret it wrong
Which is why baby talk can work when you express how you feel to the baby. If you ask what is the point of baby talk then i can also ask what is the point of talking real words to the baby when they can't understand it? I mean i'm talking about the word itself literally
You can just say "baahhjii buujjii" but what you really meant is "you are beautiful" in your mind, the baby will still smile.
You know what else actually worked? I called a baby ugly but in a sweet tone but i don't really mean it and she still smiled.
Experts say you must not repeat what the baby says since it *does* understand what you say but cannot repeat it that way due to the lingual muscle development. I know my niece can't pronounce any of her aunts' or uncles' names, but I still mention them to her properly. Who knows how babies might mess up baby talk when their brain and tongue just ain't synchonized yet.
I mean I agree with you but at the same time itâs so cute when they try to talk you canât help mimicking them. I do the same thing with my cat and he definitely wonât ever be able to speak in complete sentences.
I didn't do it with my kids and my oldest daughter is a minimum of an entire grade level ahead of her peers in reading and writing at all times.
Exactly. All baby talk does is delay their speech.
It makes daycare and early grade teachers' lives easier if they don't have to plan differentiated instruction. And given today's class sizes that is understandable. But that's not the point.
I was really curious about this so I went and asked baby. He looked at me and smiled but all he said was "Gee gee, geek'.
Lol.. nice
I think it comes naturally as a response to cute baby creature
I guess so I imagine myself likely singing a cute song for babies. There are short songs with shorter phrases that a baby can like too. Or maybe even making up words in a song such as ''You are such a beautiful baby, smile now, etc.
I've wondered that ever since I was a kid. I don't have any answers for you, but I can assure you you're not the only one who wonders.
Great question. Never understood why a baby would understand gibberish coming out your mouth. lol
It's actually beneficial. Not all the good goo Gaga shit but the slow and exaggerated talked helps stimulate babies brains and helps them learn language.
So yes, baby talk helps babies learn how to talk.
It teaches babys the sounds of the
language. Those are the building blocks for words and eventually sentences.
Wait until you are 30 and have your first child you will understand.
It's more like mimicking the baby, so it starts to understand communication.
There was a father on a video singing to his baby girl and as soon as he said the word beautiful with a smile, the baby smiled at him. They can understand too if we say a nice, warm word.
Designed to keep kids slower for longer sounds like a democrat policy to keep them supplied
i got baby-talked as a child and look at me now! walking dictionary, as well as major smartass
I never understood it either, I've always spoken to kids normally.
I think teaching them how to actually speak proper language would be better for them, words like goo and gaa are not going to be useful in life.
Youâll be a great mom!
You'll understand when you'd have a baby
Ugh. I can't stand it either
