I’ve met a really smart, really nice lady on Facebook through a mutual friend and I’m wondering how to ease into a friendship when we both have Asperger’s. I haven’t been affected emotionally, but I’ve been king hit with my ability with reading social cues. I’m out of practise of befriending people. She lives a few hours by train away from me. How do I do this? My bestie and I both like her as a friend.

It's great that you're interested in making friends with this lady you met on Facebook! Here are some tips for easing into a friendship:
1. Start with casual conversations: Begin by exchanging messages or emails with the woman. Start with simple topics, such as common interests, hobbies, or favorite TV shows. This can help you get to know each other and establish a connection.
2. Be patient and understanding: Remember that building a friendship takes time, and it's important to be patient and understanding as you get to know each other. Don't push too hard or expect instant closeness, but instead allow the friendship to develop naturally over time.
3. Be open and honest: It's important to be open and honest about your Asperger's and any challenges you may face in social situations. This can help the woman understand you better and be more supportive of your needs.
4. Find common ground: Look for common interests or hobbies that you can share with the woman. This can be a great way to bond and develop a deeper connection.
5. Plan a visit: If you both feel comfortable, consider planning a visit to meet in person. This can be a great way to solidify the friendship and spend quality time together.
Remember to take things at a pace that feels comfortable for both you and the woman, and don't be afraid to express your needs or concerns as the friendship develops. Good luck, and I hope you're able to build a strong and fulfilling friendship with this lady!
Just send her messages online and see if she likes similar things as you. Chit chat about your relationship with the mutual friend, maybe even talk to your friend and see if she'll invite her and you to a dinner together so you both can meet and talk.
Just take the time to get to know each other and see how it goes. Show an interests in what she likes to do.
