I’m 24 and my dad thinks having kids will ruin my life but I dream of being a mom someday?

He thinks kids are headaches due to financial problems, the relationship/marriage potential failing and the time sacrificed into kids.. he’s very negative about it and it hurts my feelings.

Well... he's not entirely wrong. He's not right, of course, and insofar as you're his child, it's kind of insulting, but children are a HUGE investment, in pretty much every way, and having them WILL disrupt your life, in ways that are often unpleasant. The idea is that all the positives make up for it.

We're also headed into some rough economic times, which may end up being VERY rough economic times. He may be thinking about that, or about other upcoming troubles. Or he may just be expressing his frustrations about the way having kids changed HIS life.

It’s your life, not your dads. Make your own choices based on what you want. Making life choices based on what he or others want to you to do will only make you unhappy and full of resentment and regret. He’s giving you the advice based on his own feelings, opinions and experiences. For HIM the right choice would be to not have kids if he could redo his life, but that doesn’t mean not having kids is right for YOU. You’re different people with different personalities, values, dreams and desires.

Thank you so much for the input and feedback :,) I agree 100%, it just makes me sad knowing how little support I could have even tho at the end of the day I gotta do what makes me happy and what my heart wants I can’t live for others even family. I’ve heard some parents and other family that sometimes come around with time after these scenarios but still hurts my feelings because I’m the total opposite and children are such a beautiful blessing to me and I’ve wanted to be a mom for so long now.

I’m not in a hurry to have kids yet but I’d like one in my late 20s.
