What kind of birthday gift should I give a rich friend who has the best of everything when I’m poor?

I tend to like handmade mementos of our relationship. Perhaps something to represent a shared memory of importance. If you can buy it, I can buy it, so I don't need that. If you DO buy something I'd rather it be something unique and truly tailored to my liking or of us, because the gift is the thought and effort you put into it. Hope you got it on sale at least ;)

Yup - something handmade. Do you have a skill? Crochet a little heart. Monogram a hankie. Paint a watercolor. Shoot a picture of a favorite tree in the town square. Cook a special meal they like. Give them a massage.

Since you can't use money you must use effort. See if you do something you make yourself or maybe give them an experience they haven't had.
