Flat mate invading my privacy, not sure how to feel about it?

I’ve never had issues with living with flat mates in any of the houses I’ve lived in. One guy moved into the house I’m currently living at, one the night he first moved in, he used my body scrubber to wash himself. I woke up the next morning, noticing body scrubber dumped in the bath wet.

I got myself a new one and keep everything in my room now. I’ve left out a sponge the past few days as it’s the sponge I use to clean my shoes and he’s decided to use it to wash himself in the shower, even the point he started putting his soap on top of it. I confronted him and he lied that he wasn’t using it, the next day I noticed he was using a new sponge he’s taken from the kitchen cupboard so it was clearly him.

I donated blood a few days ago and the following day felt quite sick, my gp asked me to take a pregnancy test just in case which I did. It turned out negative but I was a bit embarrassed and didn’t want my flat mates to see it so I hid it in some packaging and hid it in the bathroom bin (it was also under other rubbish). I didn’t want to put it in the outside bin as my flat mates would have seen me carry it. You could slightly see the top of the box in the bin but I assumed no one wouldn’t bother. Came into the bathroom today, the guy who used my sponge has taken it out of the packaging, and dumped it clearly on top of all the rubbish so everyone could see it. I’m feeling a little bit disgusted that someone has moved the other trash to actually get to the actual pregnancy test and then dumped it on top of it all so I know someone has opened it up to look at it. What would you do? I now feel extremely embarrassed that someone has done that and also disgusted that they’ve touched other trash to open it. What do you think? I’m not really sure how to take it but it’s bothering me

It would bother me a lot too. All I can think of if you try to confront him, he will lie again so might as well start keeping a trash bin in your room and throw out the trash yourself. Also keep all items that you use in your room and locked including toilet paper and hope your room is locked as well. People aren't respectful of things, he could easily by a sponge himself

Me too. I spoke to friends about it and they think it’s a bit creepy. And also gross to digg rubbish up. I’ll start hiding rubbish in my room now. But it worries me if he’s gross enough to do that, what else can he do? That’s what my other flat mates said too, there’s a pack of new sponges in the kitchen he could have taken but he decided to use mine

Yeah he seems pretty gross and inconsiderate. Also not being respectful. Sucks you have to live him

Wow. That’s pretty blatant and a little creepy. Have you confronted him about this? This is why I want to avoid roommates if at all possible.

I haven’t yet, I think he’s either in his room or out working. It is creepy indeed. I’m getting really bad vibe off him. He’s married and his wife is currently in their home country. And I think she’s going to be here soon so I think he will be moving out at some point to get a house with her. But he always tries to invite himself to everything, I went to visit my ex a while back and it’s a long drive and he asked if he could join which was very weird

You shouldn't be living with dudes who you aren't in a relationship with.
