Was I out of order?

I was visiting my cousin who is 8 years old and I was 20.

I was visiting her as I live abroad. I would play with her etc but one day she wanted me to wake up at 7am to see her off onto her school bus and i was so tired and didn't get up. Her uncle who I was staying with was annoyed at me. My cousin was upset because she had asked the day before.

I was just so tired and she wanted me to wait outside to see her get on etc

YES , never ever make a promise to a child that you cannot keep , tell her you are doing something - DO IT ! No matter what , no excuses , that's shameful what you did.

She's spoilt and wants everything her way. Her parents spoil her

Even when her parents took me out to sightsee around tourist areas she was throwing a tantrum because she didn't like what we were doing

I live in Germany and was visiting them in USA. I don't see them often

Be it what you consider a promise or not..
Never agree to something with a child , and not go ahead with that action.

I don't think you did anything wrong. I probably would have gotten up if that's all she wanted was for me to see her get on the school bus. I can always go back to bed.
