Yes- and it sucks. Being the fifth wheel is worse. Seventh isn't so bad, except at those times when everyone else is in "couple mode" and you briefly consider creating a new imaginary friend to date, just so you'll have SOMETHING.
Back in college, I had a group of 5 really good friends who were all dating at the same time. I had just broken up with my boyfriend, and my best friend invited me to hang to kind of take my mind off of everything. We all went out to the movies which was cool. They were doing boyfriend/girlfriend things in the theater, but at least I had a movie to watch. At the restaurant after, with 11 people, we needed more chairs than the table we selected had, so as good boys do, they went over and started grabbing extra chairs. When the musical chairs was done, I was literally left standing by myself, because of course, no one was thinking of me, they were thinking of their girlfriends. I've never felt like more of a single loser in my life. When everyone realized this, there were a few chuckles as I had to then go find another chair and drag it over AND sit at the head of the table alone because there wasn't room elsewhere. I didn't go out for "a while" after that humiliation.
Yeah, it sucks.
I am often the "third wheel" when my SO and I spend time with her family. She tends to spend a lot of time with them and very little with me. I've learned to live with it.
Yeah, my friend asked me to come watch a movie with her and didn't even say her boyfriend was coming along.
Best thing everr, they paid for everything and I was just roaming around with them. I still feel kinda guilty haha
Who cares you got food right?

My best friend used to invite me to tag along with him and his girlfriend. It just made me feel left out.
More times than I can even count. Although it happened way more often in my earlier life. Not so much now.
