It's rarer than people claim it to be common. There is many research and studies to show that it most likely will end up okay and even research to show it's not actually any different odds wise.
Whether it's brother or cousin both have shown results of mutations not been common but like always possible. It's more dependent if your family has already got bad genes.

The whole idea of people with incest will always have kids with issues is just overall exaggerated and wouldn't make sense anyway since we all came from it. The first family whatever that was wouldn't of been concerned about science that didn't exist back then, and would of made many offspring and then eventually that spreads out and it starts to be loose enough connected to see each other as family.

You're both wrong. It's not superstition, but you're not going to get genes that aren't there. Conditions that cause a serious impediment to survivability and are dominant are obviously unlikely to be passed on, but those which are recessive can stay hidden for generations. Genetic similarity means the risk increases- but only if the bad recessive genes are THERE. If they're not, then inbreeding is actually SAFER, at least as far as that's concerned.

There are serious other risks to a lack of genetic variability, of course.

If you look at the countries with highest birth defects they are all countries with the highest rates of cousin marriage like Pakistan.

It Britain the Pakistani community has the most children born with birth defects in the UK despite being only 1% of the population.
