About a month ago, my car took a crap. I asked my boss if I could borrow a company car while mine is getting fixed. She said yes, and then she dropped it off at my house. To be honest, I've been dealing with a lot, and have been stalling, and I haven't even taken my car to the mechanic yet. I don't use the company car for personal things. Just work. I work for a commercial cleaning company, and I work with a pretty severely autistic man. We just drive from site to site, and clean buildings. Like ever since i got the company car, my co worker is like "you need to wash this car, and clean the inside, and give it back to our boss as soon as possible". He also thinks I have the money for a 2024 Toyota Tacoma with a back up camera. He's always like "don't worry, you'll get paid soon, and then you'll get a bran new Toyota Tacoma with back up camera" realistically, I'd probably have to save for years to get one. I've talked to my boss countless times since she let me borrow the company car, and she hasn't even mentioned it, so I was just gonna keep it until she asks for it. My mom says that even if she does bring it up then say that I need to borrow it a little longer, because she doesn't want me driving my car that's messed up. I feel kinda like a dead beat for keeping it for so long, and that my boss is just afraid to say anything to me about it.

First, I doubt your boss is afraid to ask. She’s being nice and just leaving the issue alone, I suspect.
Second, no, you’re not a jerk at all. The issue is currently working to your benefit and you just have to show gratitude by being there as an exceptional employee when they need it. It’s a tough economy out there and my guess is they like you as a person and employee and are trying to make it easy for you to stay with them.
You have absolutely no right to be surprised when he charges you for the use
