How can I help my boyfriend get his life back since getting out of jail?

Long story short, he spent 13 months in jail for doing something stupid and it caused his license to be suspended for 6 months.

He lives with his mom, and his mom is nagging him to get a job. He wants to work, but can’t because he lives in the middle of nowhere and has no transportation. His mom does not work and is home all day, but she won’t drive him anywhere to get a job. She just drinks and watches tv.

i live 40 minutes away and have my own job, otherwise i would drive him. He is really getting depressed bc he feels trapped there. His mom is now telling me that he should drive without a license. I told her that is stupid and he will go back to jail. Then she got mad at me for thinking it was a bad idea. Now she is saying she will kick him outta the house. So i told her he can come live with me. Then he could get a job in my town and we could carpool, or he can live with me for free and earn his keep by doing handyman stuff around my house.

But his mom doesn't like that idea and says he will never agree to it. My boyfriend is unaware that she wants to kick him out. I dont know what to do, but his mental state is not well. And she is a huge part of his poor mental state.

I agree with that last sentence. I've seen such people and it's a long term disaster ending with miserable death.

How far is he from work... could he bike to work? no license for bicycle, even electric one.

Online jobs like customer service, marketing surveys. see what jobs are there. It may be tough with the jail issue.

Lastly, are there people in his area he can work for... mow lawns, pick up cans, paint, do repair work. A lot of things don't require license.

Yes, he’s pretty much a jack of all trades and can do little bits of everything from plumbing to painting to deck work. But unless clients come and pick him up, it would probably be too far for him to go anywhere. Unless he could work for people on the weekend when I could potentially drive him. A bike could potentially open up one or two possible workplaces for him. I hadn’t thought of the work from home thing that you mentioned, but that’s an option if they’re willing to accept someone with a record. It was a nonviolent offense. So it’s not that bad.
