An adoption forum was the first place I hung out at online, even before the web came out. I talked to a whole lot of adopted kids. Every one of them considered their adopted parents their real parents. They were the only parents they ever knew.

Unless you were treated badly, I don't see why it would be any different for you.

Please don't tell your parents that you are considering this. Because they would be heartbroken. Adoptive parents tend to be insecure about that.

You say they treated you well? Why would you possibly abandon them? They looked after you..

What do they possibly do wrong? Other than maybe not telling you.

you can have them be your family still and try to get in touch with your biological one at the same time

Discovering you're adopted is a big deal. It's okay to feel a lot of things. However, abandoning the family that raised and loves you is unlikely to be the best path. Family is built on love and shared experiences, not just blood. Talk to them, seek support, and explore your feelings. You can explore your biological roots while maintaining a relationship with your adoptive family.

I found out I had a biological family out there somewhere I'm not sure if this is what I really wanted

Do you even know why you were given up for adoption in the first place?

From what I know of is that I was taken away from my birth parents by the child protection services by the government taken away from my birth family by the government and taken to a foster home

I would strongly recommend thoroughly thinking about your decision BEFORE you decide to abandon the only family you’ve ever known in favor of a new family you don’t know at all.
