Is it okay to just buy most of my friends a cake every year, for their birthdays; and scorched almonds in a jar each Christmas?

I’m unemployed on the disability pension for Autism, unless/until I find a job. Which I’m studying to get, at tafe/community college. If I get the job as a teacher’s aide, I’ll be able to rent a modest apartment.

Anyway, that’s then. Both then and now, I’ll have limited money to go around. As much as I love treating people, it’s put me in debt, to make sure my family and all my friends have enough nice things. I promised myself that I’d cut back, so I can start saving for rent, food, socialising and old age. I have fourteen friends to shop for, every year, so my psychologist suggested store bought cakes per person. Thanks for any suggestions.
