Do men not have the right to cry?

I was crying, I was depressed, and my mother got angry at me for it.

If a girl goes through hard times and breaks down, she can go to her family or friends crying and hug them. But when a man cries, instead of receiving compassion, he is met only with anger and disgust.

Why is it like that?

Your mom deserves a pounding (but not from you, please don't take that as advice) she'll only ever be together with toxic abusers with the issues she has. ㅤ

There is a reason why i only felt a sense of safety when i would lie down where large livestock who see me as a friend sleep. There's a sense of protection in that which my family didn't provide. And the fact that i am capable of feeling safe from someone else's presence (in this case, large livestock) means i still had the need for it. Otherwise i wouldn't be capable of feeling protected. So no, crying and wanting safety isn't something that should magically go away once you're 6 years and older.

There's a lot of inconsistent messaging about it. I'm not necessarily a believer that man should express emotion, but I also don't condemn a man either if he does (again though, not necessarily). I just think that a man's expression of his emotions should be in appropriate to the situation and in accordance with his role therein.

Everyone has the right to cry. How one's friends and family reacts to it is just a reflection of the quality of one's friends and family.

Men are supposed to be problem solvers, not problem carriers. You can cry quietly alone, or if you have at least one close male friend who truly understands you. However, you are absolutely correct about crying in front of women. Just don’t do it. There is no upside. When a woman says she wants a sensitive man, she means she wants a man who will be sensitive to her problems; not that she wants him to dump his problems on her. Never forget that.
If you don’t have a close male friend or relative, talk to a priest or counselor. The counselor should be one who specializes in men’s issues.
