Would buying a gun make me safer amid escalating harassment?

I am a 28 year old girl. Lately the past couple months i been having big nasty fights with family (they moved out because of a misunderstanding and they verbally assaulted me so my dad threw them out. also strangers or people i met have done the same as well. I could be minding my business and they start verbally assaulting me or harassing me one time this guy called me the n word. I am starting to feel unsafe. I never had issues with people until the last couple months. I try not to go off because its not worth my life but i think its a lot of mental illness going on people are very much on the edge. Thats why we keep having shootings. I dont want one fight to be my last you know?

Guns aren’t for everybody, especially if you have a short temper and are confrontational. Not engaging people in confrontations and de-escalation are two of the most important things when carrying a gun and I can’t stress that enough. If you can’t keep a cool head, keep your mouth shut, and walk away when you can, you have no business carrying a gun unless you want to find yourself sitting in prison. If you are clumsy or forgetful it’s not good, either. If you don’t live in a state where it’s legal to carry a gun, get a big purse and a can of bear spray. That will ruin the toughest craziest person’s day real quick.

And there’s no such thing as verbal assault, assault is a physical action. If you get so bothered by what people say then I think you might be too sensitive and emotional to own a gun.

No! I’m the biggest pro 2A on here. It might make you less safe. Go to your local gun store and narrow down your choices with the staffs help. Bigger stores have gun ranges included and you can rent the model or models and try them out first. Anyway after you get your gun get PROFESSIONAL training from a firearms instructor, not your boyfriend. I’ll say this do not get any small dainty looking pistols. They kick more and are much harder to rack. You’ll get several opinions but mine is the Walther PDP F full size 4 inch barrel. Designed specifically for female hands it has reduced trigger reach, 20% less rack force and probably the best ergonomics on any pistol. I think it’s around $700

I had crime in my neighborhood and the house next door was broken into during the day while I was home recovering from surgery. I boiught .357 magnum handgun and a tactical 12 Gauge shotgun. Ifeel safer in my house/
