Is walking away from an elderly man’s screaming disrespectful or self-protective?

  • He throws massive temper tantrums multiple times a day. I was fighting back but I didn't like how it made me feel so now I just don't say much. I do cry which he see as weak and he says he is going to have to go harder.
  • whenever he starts I walk out sit in the car or by the pool or go somewhere etc. He says it's not fair that I leave when he is having a moment. I should stand there at attention like they do in the army and not cry or say anything back or show any emotion. He should be able to do this all day. And I should stay strong. Not be offended by his insults. It shouldn't bother me.
  • He gets really offended that I go off by myself and cry. And mocks me. He feels that because he is almost 80 he can be as mean as he wants.
  • He said that I crumble under pressure. He is helping me.
  • I said I need a break from him screaming in my face like a lunatic. I am not in the army then sit outside.
  • He also knocks on the windows and paces around the car when I leave but then gets furious if I ask what he wants.
  • I am trying to get out but what do I do in the meantime?

Apparently he went through my phone and was yelling at Alexa and she asked if he was having a mental health crisis and dis he want to talk to someone? He hasn't spoken to me in two days because he thinks I put her up to it. It's been nice.
