Why is this guy accusing me of "friend zoning" him?

So I know what friend zone is but I didn't get it when one of my best male friends accused me of this.

We've been friends forever and he never ever showed me any hint that he was interested in me.

I recently began a new relationship with this amazing guy, and all of the sudden my friend started accusing me of friend zoned him, when I wasn't even aware, he was talking like it was my fault, or something and now doesn't speak to me

Well, clearly he friend zoned himself by never letting you know that he felt more strongly about you than just a friendship. Unfortunately a lot of guys tend do that out of fear of losing a friendship that took a long time to develop if they show any greater interest. In a sense that's his mistake, but that doesn't make him a bad friend none the less. He probably had hopes that someday you'd come around on your own and confess to him. So seeing you get into a relationship with another guy probably made him realize that you never did see him as anything more than a friend and right now he probably feels really stupid and angry at himself for letting himself either for believing that he had a shot or for not telling before. So, that freindzone comment, he probably just said that out of anger and really didn't mean it. As to the fact that he's not talking to you, well, he probably finds it too painful to see you with someone else right now. Give him some time heal. If you guys were really close friends he'll come back when he feels he can handle it.

Clearly he thought he was either sending hints or thought he was already getting close to being able to date you. When you sprung the new guy on him suddenly his view of his relationship with you is shattered and he felt like a fool for thinking he was anything more than just a friend.

He's just using it as a epic excuse and wants to make you feel like sh*t for no reason. Don't let it put you down.
