Why is my crush too shy to talk to me?

My crush and his friends know that I like him and his friends has come up to me a few times already to talk to me but out of my shyness I walk away. They know that I'm shy and so is my crush because he hasn't spoken to me ever sine the letter I sent him. But him and his friends do talk about me. Just recently my friend told me that when she was coming out of lunch she saw my crush and his friends and they were mentioning my name but then she asked her friend what they were talking about and then her friend said it was something about talking to me. I find it kind of werid but Could that be a good thing or a bad thing that they know I'm shy?

It seems that there's only a mild attraction in his part so he tends not to talk to you that much.

Being shy has it advantages sometimes because they can talk to you every time they want since shy people aren't that sociable.
