What do you think about the "athleisure" fashion movement?

Honestly, I dislike all modern fashion and body aesthetic trends. From all these big sun glasses as shown in the photo on this post to the cat eye designer glasses worn by people in their posh office environment to all the flashy clothing, athletic clothing, makeup, overdoing hair styles, to pubic hair removal. Its all just gone way too far. I feel like I'm waling into a cosmopolitan nightmare when I go out into public.
I feel that we need to take a step back and realize our humanity again and not buy into all the unrealistic ideas of human perfection. We have lost touch with our very nature. People being able to just accept themselves and each other for who they are seems like a much more relaxed and carefree lifestyle. Who the hell are we trying to impress?
It depends on the woman. For some it looks ok but for others it looks like trailer trash attire. Just please remember 2 things. 1. If you look good and you know it, if a guy is checking you out, its only natural, getting pissy won't solve anything because I can gaurentee you do the same thing to guys you think are attractive, and wearing skin tight clothes you've put it all out for show 2. Remember the old adage from Jeff foxworthy. If your ass looks like a pair of wombats fighting in a bag of feed, most likely spandex is not for you!
It seems that nowadays most who wera it, wear it because it's comfy or tgey wear it in a means to show off their body. I personally wear it as I'm a highly athletic person, so my leisure wear mostly consists of yoga pants/leggings/pullovers.. etc. Depending on where I'm headed, I like to dress comfoy, so when I'm headed to classes or am running errands, it's usual athletic wear. I find it to be the most comfortable when out and about needing to look casual as well as if I plan on heading to the gym after.
I still can't figure out why people think this is new, or unusual, or even noteworthy. Leggings have been in and out of fashion for women for many years. People's sporting clothes have always had a place in the publically acceptable dress of most cultures. It doesn't hurt me for people to know the shape of my butt, and it doesn't hurt them. It's 2018. We have bigger fish to fry than worrying about yoga pants.
Bleh. It's gotten boring. I miss seeing cool t-shirts and bottoms besides yoga pants. Not to be "that guy" but there are just some people whose asses you do not want to see in total detail thanks to these damn things.
No, Karen, I don't think we need to see the outline of your genitals or the wart on your ass, gawd.
I wear em coz they're comfy if I am going to the grocery. I don't wear full on athletic gear. Just yoga pants or leggings with running shoes.

I didn't know it was a thing but I could have been considered part of it at one time. I'm in favor of it. Unlike so many other fashion trends it came from somewhere beyond simply "some great fashion designer made it so it must be excellent fashion." Accepting comfortable clothing as fashionable is a good thing. If we're agreeing that comfortable looks good than the argument that we should put effort in to look decent is stupid. We do look decent that's the whole point of a fashion trend it's something that generally a lot of people think look decent. XD
cute is cute no matter what. your only hurting yourself by limiting a particular style for a certain activity/function. people wear tennis shoes for just about everything other than tennis and dont have a second thought about it, so why should the rest of the outfit be any different?
think most do it just because the shit is comfortable and others do it to show off some ass. i mean i don't give a shit about fashion too much and prefer being comfortable but some of it shows literal ass and underwear through it and i prefer to be covered. i'll wear yoga pants and leggings that aren't see through with longer tops cover my ass sometimes though
Hate it with a passion. This "athleisure" trend is bloody awful. When I see girls walk around like that I laugh so hard because of how dumb they look. I prefer feminine girls that know how to dress.
How can you find that shit sexy and fashionable when there are girls like this walking around:
I think it is inappropriate in an office workplace, to wear leggings, and skin-tight spandex without a skirt, or dress. It just looks unprofessional, and dealing with clients. . . Not acceptable.
Outside of work, at the mall, restaurants, whatever you like is fine. But people will look at you!! Don't complain when people you don't like, look, wearing that kind of thing!
not my problem, but i don't find it appealing... they obviously don't want to wear what i do either...
Hahahahahahahahaha, that video perfectly shows how dumb these chicks look doing nothing in their "active wear"
Is this really a fucking thing like why does it have to be a' movement just do it. everyone makes such a big deal out of everything these days like this isn't really new girls have been rockin' yoga pants and leggings outside of the gym for A WHILE. but now it's becoming a movement really its so dumb w I don't see the point of this movement when people dress like that outside the gym daily. both guys and girls but do what makes you happy I guess
I'm not into that, it doesn't make any sense to me. People should wear what they want, however they should know that athletic clothes are meant for sports and exercise... Not casual settings. Sure they're comfy, but so are PJ's, why not wear those? If it's comfort you're after, there are plenty of casual clothes to wear for that.
There are situations in which your manner of dress may affect the outcome of an interaction and It is always wise to "dress for success." At other times, I really don't care what people wear except that I always enjoy a pretty lady wearing something that accents her natural beauty.
People should wear whatever makes them at ease with themselves and comfortable first. And if they actually care by themselves to impress or show to others... not because they value other people's opinion... they can wear something that they feel is different... wearing athletic clothes or other kind of clothes is just to each person to decide.
I wear gym clothing all the time, I spend most of the day at a gym more than anything else. I've noticed that those who have their careers oriented to fitness also wear athletic clothing most of the time too. But there are some people who wear this stuff more as statement to show others they exercise. Some do it as a fashion statement, others just wear it because it's part of their lifestyle.
Eh. I just feel like there's such a lack of effort put into it. I love vintage and fancy clothing and I love to see people put effort into their appearance rather than roll out of the house in spandex.
I congratulate you for being an 18 year old girl that thinks this way. Most girls your age look like they just woke up out of bed and walked out the door without thinking. Retro and vintage styles are amazing and very attractive!
I appreciate being comfy but non athletic settings aren't the place. If somebody is a gym rat then sure. Some don't leave much to the imagination.
i did when i was 12. had training before / after school and during lunch so id sear stuff i could easily convert.
i like actual cloths now :)
It's a movement? I just wear them because they're there, comfortable, and match my top. I mean it's fine I suppose.
I constantly wear leggings, but I pair them with non athletic tops and shoes. Leggings are just like any pants to me.
I always wear like this honestly.. There isn't a day which I skipped without wearing sports clothes lol seriously. I wear sweatpants, sport shoes and sport t-shirts, that's maybe because I study in Sports Academy but at the same time these clothes are real comfy.
Never got it, never will. It's absolutely not a style that I like, but whatever floats your boat.
It's horrible and unless your body is perfect in those tight ones, very non flattering. If you're going to the gym that's one thing but in public? Yuk!
I honestly did not know it was a Fashion thing
I try mostly to wear what is comfy and at times that end up to be athletic, know few in my area that do that as well
Never really seen it as a fashion movement to be honest
