So this is curvy:And this is not curvy:
Why is curvy associated with plus size/fat/thick?
So this is curvy:And this is not curvy:
Yea the word curvy has been hijacked by big people. I agree with you that curvy is waist to hip ratio. I also think over time maybe it’s been associated with plus size because the curvy girls who are chubby use to have to buy bottoms in plus size section but are still wearing tops from regular size BUT in the last 10 years that problem has been solved by designers making jeans and pants for curvy women. Which has been a godsend!
I also think thick is just to describe someone Like the girl in the blue bikini. She isn’t fat at all. She’s curvy but she’s thicker in the tummy hips and thighs.
Someone posted earlier about it being a fashion term on labels and this is true too! I search for jeans labeled curvy no matter if I’m a size 8 or a 14 because I need the cut to give me room in hips and close in at my waist or else it’s a huge difference but my friend who is the exact same weight as me but shaped more like an apple can’t wear those jeans because they fit her all wrong.
Well to be fair, there are plus size girls who still have a well defined waist to hip ratio and therefore can still call themselves curvy in the technical sense. With that being said this doesn’t apply to girls like Tess Holliday.
I’m not saying fat girls shouldn’t think they’re pretty, but at least be real about what you really are. BBW is a much more realistic term for these women. I used to be really fat. I lost weight and I’m still losing, but I’m also still heavy. I know this is a bit off topic but looks aside, I’m against the concept of fat acceptance.
The word curvy got hijacked somewhere along the way. This is what it used to mean...
My point exactly
Marketing euphemisms. Ever notice how when there is a sudden change by one company that looks like it will "stick" for awhile, that just about ALL the other companies (or at least the ones that want to be successful) jump on the paradigm shift bandwagon? Heinz, who was known for ketchup, came up with Heinz Mustard when it merged with Kraft. Almost simultaneously, French's - known for its mustard, rushed French's Ketchup to market.
As soon as the first couple of uses of "curvy" were noted, suddenly the adjective popped up ALL over the place, and its use even spread for women who could be considered approaching obesity, just to show how "responsive to society" a particular company was being.
It's because obese women have taken it as a nice way to describe their bodies. "curvy" spares their feelings and functions as a euphemism for fat. Like BBW, More to love, little extra, etc... The problem is curvy already meant women with an hour glass figure. Wide hips. Actual bone structure that gave them a shape regardless of fat. This is curvy to me. And yet if you Google curvy, you'll find a bunch of fat girls mixed in there. Where are the actual curvy girls and why aren't they pushing back on this. If a girl tells me she's curvy there's a 50/50 chance she's lying to me and I don't like those odds.

Curvy female bodies got labelled plus size/thick by the fashion industry, where the designers only create for the 5'10"+ androgynous stick insects and seem to hate the normal female form.
Personally I prefer someone I can cuddle with without raising brusies.
"5'10"+ androgynous stick insects".
BEST DESCRIPTION EVER !!!
Best description! Thank you!
To answer your question, you are using a definition of "curvy" which is not correct. The English language is extremely complex, varied, and spread over the globe. Many words have more than one definition, and virtually all have multiple connotations, subtexts, and implied meanings that vary from place to place and sentence to sentence."because curvy means you have curves (boobs, ass, small, waist)" is not a universal definition, it is the one you want to be true. To me, curvy has always been a more polite, affectionate way of saying a girl has more fat around the middle which, surprise surprise, also creates a "curve". Trying to draw such clear technical definitions in a case as this is pointless, this is not mathematics, chemistry, or physics.
Blame feminists. In the past men defended curvy but fit women. After years of hearing feminists claim that hippo shaped women are beautiful and that we’re wrong not to agree (fat acceptance) men just tuned out and raised our standards higher. We know women tend to gain weight so why even give women who were too lazy/self-centered to stay fit any attention at all? Even if she’s just 5 pounds over we can ignore her. Those of us with self-worth & resources need her less than she needs us. But let’s say you have “curves” and aren’t overweight... that’s just being a normal attractive woman and we ain’t going to pat you on the back for that anymore. Same as you don’t pat men on the back for having nuts & a beard.
As someone who's fat but working on losing weight I don't really associate myself with words and won't either ever or until I actually look "curvy" or "thick" I mean I could "fit into" the thick category right now and probably will after losing weight and getting to my goal weight because I have big thighs and big boobs and an ok butt I guess but I could also be "curvy" but I don't know.
I think labeling is stupid because no matter what people are gonna call themselves whatever they want at the end of the day.
Curvy and fat is the same thing sometimes. There are different varieties of curves. Some have it in their boobs, some in their bellies, some in their thighs. You are like one of those guys who shame bigger people and say they are not curvy. They have more curve than anyone. The 'sculpted' girls you posted are not curvy. They are skinny af or just fit and muscular with minimal boobs thanks to low body fat. They have a waist or a nicer silhouette but when guys think of curves, they usually mean something to grab on, either boobs or a jiggly butt. Not fat, but softer and more feminine than pure muscle or just stick skinny.
There are plenty of women that are considered obese that are still curvy. Have you not seen an obese woman with a smaller waist and big ass and boobs? there's small and curvy, big and curvy, candid all sizes in between. Curvy is a shape and not a size.
*and not candid
It is just a way of trying to make themselves feel better about their neglect of their own bodies by describing their obesity using positive terms that are applied to attractive women, such as "thick", "curvy" or "voluptuous".
Even the term "big" could have been used for women blessed with tall stature as opposed to being synonymous with being fat.
As a girl that 100% only describes my body as “fat”, I approve this message!! Nothing more annoying then when people can’t just face how they look. It looks more pathetic when a fat girls says she’s a “curvy girl” instead of “fat.” Calling myself fat doesn’t bring me down, and it’s exactly what my body is. I wish people would just stop sugarcoating how they look.
I certainly agree, it is what it is.
Hey... I agree with your illustrations, but don't blame us guys for this one. Its been fostered by women who are overweight and in denial, and who seek body acceptance no matter what. They decided they want to describe themselves as "curvy", which guys on dating apps soon realized was a substitute for the word "fat" or significantly overweight. If ever I saw the word "curvy" in a profile, flags went up and I'd ask for a full body shot taken that day (clothed, of course). That's like a man describing himself as "a little chubby or slightly overweight" when he has a beer gut so big he can't see his dick when he's naked.
Agreed. Some people just use it as justification to not workout, exercise or eat right. It's essentially become a more PC way of frankly saying 'fat.' It's someone's right to determine how they want to look etc, but they have to accept the health consequences of these actions. Best way to determine it is with waist-hip ratio in my opinion. You can lie to other people, but lying to yourself is the most heinous downfall of all.
I think that is the fault of women in their effort to beautify the outbreak of heart killing obesity. I think its more from the "acceptance" movement. I dont condone or adhere to that. I dont think everyone is beautiful. Some people are ugly to me.
I agree. Curvy is sexy as fuck. Very different than thick or fat.
And for the record.. Thick thighs do not save lives!
id have to disagree with the thick thighs dont save lives because the thick thighs thing at first was for ACTUAL curvy people and fit people who had bigger calves and hips then just like the term 'curvy' obese people took it and used it for themselves so they would feel better about how they looked
I agree, it's a lousy use of the concept. I think it has to do with the fact that many women began to demand that more common sizes be shown in the world of modeling, which I agree, however, in that reinvindication of 'normal' bodies it was categorized as women with curves at all overweight women.
Cause you'll never hear a fat chick call herself fat; only curvy so she doesn't have to face her problems and she can live in denial.
And you'll never hear anyone call someone fat even if they are because they suddenly become an arsehole even if it's the truth that could force action on the part of the fat person to improve their diet and exercise.
The woman in the red bikini is what I call curvy. Playboy models back in the day were curvy. Fat is fat. Kardashian asses and elephant thighs are grotesque. I'm not crazy about bulging body builder thighs or ripped abs, either. Give me a normal girl who is fit and flexible, has nice measurements, a flat but not lean tummy, and has the right amount of well distributed healthy fat that makes a woman a woman.
Excuse you? So a skinny woman or an overweight woman is not a "woman" ?
Guys like you are pathetic. So entitled hey.
I bet you're not even athletic. No abs, no arm muscles, etc
And you want a fit girl? Lol.
Reality check mate.
if you want a girl shaped like a playboy model then you better be 200lbs or more of muscle XD
Gee. Somebody got triggered. I wonder why? LOL
I was simply stating body shape preferences. It's my opinion and, in studies from men around the world, it's what most men prefer. You know, the basic 36'24'36' idea. There is such a thing as classic beauty. Too bad you're not.
by the way, every girlfriend I ever had was shaped like I described. That includes my wife. No, they didn't look like the girl in the red bikini. They were average, healthy and fit, with nice boobs and curves, and just the right amount of fat. They might not have been playboy or Instagram models, but they weren't pencils and they weren't lard asses. They were pretty.
Now that I think about it even Playboy and Instagram models don't really look like that in real life. They are airbrushed and Photoshopped. It's kinda like seeing a movie star without their makeup. They're not as extraordinary as you thought.
by the way, I didn't say that skinny or "overweight" women weren't women. I said that the right amount of well distributed healthy fat is what makes women women, as opposed to men, whose ideal form is lean.
Because it's a fashion industry term, but also descriptive of specific body type. IE, curvy jeans are designed for women with wider hips and a smaller waist regardless of weight. I have a big butt and wide hips, so I always look for curvy labels on clothes. As for describing body type, there are fat curvy women. Some people wrongly describe themselves but who cares? Let people enjoy things
Because on one hand there's people trying to promote being thick, chubby or even obese as being curvy and on the other hand a chunk of people among the ones exposed to this campaign now are also convinced that anyone who uses the word curvy must be meaning 'fat'.
"curvy" is NEVER fat or over weight... that is simply FAT.
"curvy" is thin and healthy with wide female hips and bigger tit than chest frame. Period.
This indeed is curvy
This is NOT...
She has a gut... she is overweight. She is lumpy
She is curvy yet overweight, girl in red looks fake and obiviously went under the knife
Correct, dude.
@Smiley_face101 Or maybe, Sierra Egan is just an attractive female.
She looks kinda fake to me but each and their own.
Girl in blue is also attractive
@Smiley_face101 To a female I suppose or a black dude. But she would never sell products because she is too overweight.
@Smiley_face101 ... Girl in blue is not also attractive. Girl in blue is fat. Girl in blue WILL be attractive once she loses about twenty-five pounds.
Thats funny because I showed her photo to the guy I am seeing (and he is not black) and he said she is hot.
There are fat girls who are also attractive and here is an example.
Some men are less into plastic dolls with implants 🤗
@Smiley_face101 Yes... you're correct-- that is, indeed, funny.
@Smiley_face101 If you are also close to this girl's size and this tard wants pussy... of course he will tell you it's sexy. He's trying to get pussy.
All the girls he dated before me were on the bigger side, thats what he likes
@Smiley_face101 Yeah so he is a fat chaser, he isn't the norm.
Thin sells for a reason.
So explain how come guys approch me all the time?
Thin sells since its fashionable (gay fashion designers made it popular since its the closest thing to a guy a woman can look like)
@Smiley_face101 Ha nice shaming attempt.
Sexy sells and fat doesn't because it LOOKS BETTER.
I am not getting on your personal experiences since they don't matter in the grand scheme of reality.
Again, fashion.
Now its fashionable to be thin but look at this:
www.google.com/search
She is not thin and that is supposed to be the godess of beauty. Thin does not always looks better, its just a trend.
Dude don't bother. She can't (or really won't) understand. She's a broken record.
I think its because fat girls are often bullied by our media. In order to show some respect for them or give them some dignity, it is to use "curvy" to cover it up. Its sickening how fat girls are looked down so much more compared to fat men. I really don't find fat men to be attractive either. Unless we start showing some more respect for people of all body shapes, I am all in support for calling thicker / fatter women "CURVY"
Because we don't like to be called fat. We feel better when we are called curvy or plus sized. I've been called lard ass by my sister so it doesn't offend me but for some it would. I imagine it is like calling a guy pencil dick.
I'm sure there are more fat dudes then girls.
Curvy number 3 isn't curvy, she's plain fat, or "big" at best. Marketing companies and fat gals like to rebrand it but it is what it is. Its like prison becoming penitentiary, the becoming correctional facility. Same shit different wrapping. She just likes mcdonalds to much and looking for excuses to justify the results.
She is curvy because she still has a much smaller waist compared to the rest of her body. Her arms and shoulders aren't that big either. Curvy is about shape not size
She is curvey because the kardashians told you she is and im starting to think you look somewhat the same since its so important to you to not acknowledge that she's fat. Anyway feel free to twist and turn it anyway you want, its still not hot and it will only ever be in a world of mandatory mcdonalds lunch in school.
Curvy doesn't mean hot either. I gave 4 examples of curvy: fit, skinny and chubby. Curvy is about waist, boobs and ass/hip proportions, the shape of her body, not the size
because political correctness bullshit and fashion magazines that wanna target fat people (as fat people are a big majority in many places) steal such terms that are positively associated with "a healthy weight body on the upper range of the healthy scale" and slap it all over fat people.
it sucks. it's as if media tries to kill the image of the "normal weight" girl. they push the agenda towards morbidly skinny or morbidly thick.
