Do french girls/women actually do natural makeup?

There's a stereotype that French girls do a light subtle makeup (transparent hydrating foundation, not much on eyes, and a lip balm/red lipstick max/ etc)
And I highly doubt it's TRUE

I've been exploring this look inspired by them recently. I have found a lot of comments on YT videos from them saying that it is how they do their make up. I have seen videos of women who are french on YT saying that's what they like as well. But never been there so I haven't seen it myself, just watching and reading
