Seems like there's a bit of a double standard for guys and girls. Guys can basically wear the same thing anywhere as they do at the beach/pool but if a girl does it, more people think it's inappropriate. I don't know. I have no problem wearing a bikini of that's what I want to wear, even walking downtown.

But seriously there IS a double-standard, at least in my family. Like my brothers can walk around in boxers or underpants (like my youngest bro) but I have to wear a teeshirt or something - and if parts of me poke out a little, I have to wear a bra, too. It's pretty much all my mom, though. I don't think my brothers care and I don't know what my dad thinks, either way. Also, outside the family, where we live is pretty conservative and the only girls I've seen in skimpy tops or bikini tops were people who live in the city.
Hell, currently the trend is to look as much as a bratz doll (or some other fictional overlysexualized character) as much as possible. When I saw girls wearing jeans with the butt part cut out to expose their lower butt cheeks, I knew from that point on there's nothing that you CAN'T wear, lol. Everybody wants to look like a video vixen, and hey, whatever floats your boat. I personally don't think it's appropriate and I personally wouldn't wear it, but I most certainly wouldn't knock, judge, nor frown down on another girl if i saw her wearing it.

To the question details, imagine a nice average girl and an ok looking guy are sitting on a beach, both with no top. Who will the vast majority try to check out; regardless of their gender?
Besides this, there is a moral issue which only makes sense if you take guidance from your faith, if you follow it. Lets keep that out of the discussion as majority people here will diaagree with it anyway.
I'd say there is a limit depending on how skimpy it is. Show some sort of class or else don't be surprised when others comment about it when others comment. Its like if you got the body to wear a bikini all the time do it. But then don't get sassy when others comment. If you gonna wear it then own it. If you can't handle the heat then don't ask for the attention. Its the same logic to clout.
last time i was out, as i waited in the queue to get in a club a group of young women walked past to join the line and one of them was literally wearing nothing but a swimsuit... in that enviroment it seemed super sexy but not out of place. maybe in other enviroments it would be a bit odd though
I think it’s the same for guys and girls... it’s really just a judgement call on what’s appropriate. Looks great but in my opinion, In a lot of cases it’s not appropriate to wear a bikini just like it’s not appropriate for a guy to wear a speedo away from a beach or pool
Most bikinis are rather skimpy, so there's a bit of a difference between men and women's swimwear, as men's are more modest than women's overall. Not really a double standard, it's just women have skimpier swimsuits than men overall. No less, if a man wore a speedo in public he'd likely be called out on it for indecency.
A guy's swimsuit is basically a pair of shorts, which can be at the beach or away from the beach. A girl's bikini is meant to be work=n only at the beach; it's too revealing if worn away from the beach. What may women do is put on shorts over the bikini bottom when away from the beach.
I wouldn't say it's inappropriate, but I do find it alittle weird if I see someone (regardless of gender) in their beachwear at a location unrelated to any beach, park or other appropriate place to wear beachwear. Like, if I'm at store in a mall, I would find it weird if I saw anyone casually wearing beachwear. Outside it's alittle different, like I wouldn't mind if it's a hot day with the sun out.

Many businesses have a rule about not serving people who aren’t wearing a shirt. So men can’t walk around with only swim trunks on and get treated normally.
Eh I think there a lot of factors. When it's super hot walking around in a bikini top makes sense. Certain setting make sense. I don't ever think it's like inappropriate but it just may not match the setting. I would love my girl to only wear bikinis but in some instances it wouldn't make sense
Well a bikini is for the beach or poolside so it would be extremely odd for you to wear it anywhere else. Each occasion has its own dress code. You won’t traditionally wear a bikini when you’re running errands or shopping would you? Unless it’s some sort of joke or way to garner attention.
I think it is fine. the human body is not dirty. When i go to the beach and tons of women are in bikini's, its not like everyone loses their mind and starts a big rapefest or something. Everyone pretty much continues acting totally normal. I think prudes should be deported. On the contrary, if your overweight (curvy) please don't. That's like an old man wearing a speedo, just don't

Pretty sure most shops don’t like having dudes coming in without shirts. I’d think it’d be a little odd for anyone to be wearing swimming suits nowhere near a pool or the ocean but I wouldn’t have a hissy fit, you do you.
I had a neighbor who was a nurse and the other neighbor had a medical emergency with her heart, the nurse had a 2 piece bikini on and went over across the yard to give her medical attention so what would make a difference is how I see it?
If it is really hot, I'm sure it's fine. Personally if people are walking up the high street, as a preference I'd prefer not seeing that much of their skin (male or female)... but that's a me problem
I find it's appropriate to wear what the majority of people are wearing in any given situation. Having said that, it's your body to wear whatever you're comfortable in.
I don't think it's inappropriate but depends on where you go. Tbh don't think the guys running around topless and just in shorts or briefs is more accepted than a girl in a bikini
I would disagree with the idea it's fine for men to wear a swim suit say downtown or to dinner. It is immature and i would count him as such. Same for any women.
Honestly I agree, if its a bikini she should be able to wear it anywhere. But she at least needs to wear a t-shirt to go into establishments that require clothes same as a guy would.
In New York you can walk around topless and nobody can say anything because it’s legal here I never see any woman take advantage of that law even at the beach
