because people found easy ways to make money easier plus all the stimulus checks without working, those who didn't stay home to just get fat, instead went to put that money in surgeries to look better. so you have these 2 groups, the one's that got fatter and the ones that got surgeries.

Also a big reason as well is because of all the filters.
People saw how small changes here and there can make their appearance upgrade by 200% so they want to look like that and they go make it a reality.

we never had stimulus checks this large
we never had to stay home so long and still get paid
we never had filtered photos and videos before
we never had instagram before.
All this that we have today contributes to the idea of becoming as perfect as a filtered you.

There's an incentive.

Being beautiful has a lot of advantages when you make the right choices and speak with the right people; you can achieve fame, careers (modelling, acting, promotions, etc), money, and more. The list can go on. Developing skills and a personality? Why, when you can be beautiful with a bad attitude, and get shit for free as a woman; or become more likeable/approachable as a man and get promotions at work or highly desired by women.

Then you have to take into consideration that mental health evaluations aren't encouraged or mandatory; so you have a lot of people with undiagnosed mental disorders getting addicted to plastic surgery or trying to achieve a look in their mind that's a complete fantasy.

A lot of things combine to make it happen but to boil it down to just a few: there's more lazy women now than in the past. It's much easier to get plastic surgery than to have the self control to exercise & eat right. Do to mass food processing & more jobs that don't require physical labor, it means it's also takes more conscious effort to be physically fit.

Women today (on average) have less to offer besides looks so everything becomes all about their look. Women are in competition with other women so if they THINK a woman is a role model and that role model had plastic they will try to copy her.

As a rule, I'd say that the more time a woman puts into trying to look "perfect" the more shallow she is.

Much more women go for plastic / cosmetic surgery than men. This is because looks (youth and beauty) or the perception of that is by far the most important asset a woman has on the sexual marketplace. An unattractive woman is just like a broke man. This is the reason why it exists, but why the rates are increasing is because women, themselves have weaponized social media and dating apps to inflate their own perceived sexual mean value and globalize the marketplace, as a result the competition has been raised to an unnatural level where genetically gifted women are competing with average woman for attention of the same set of men.

I am not against it because it's a direction humans will go in. And if it makes said person happy shrugs it don't effect me as in if were only speaking plastic surgery. Cybernetics would for sure effect everyone and becomes more of debate in that regard of safety to other's.
But also it's very rare it ever looks attractive to me. But not everyone needs to be attractive to me obviously. Normally I think Makeup and Surgery often make one look worse and overdone for bad reasons but not my life, not my choice, not for me to care.

You tell me!!! It’s so normal for people to do stuff to themselves these days. Fillers, nose jobs, bbls... you name it. It seems like being naturally beautiful with natural features is boring now. Fuck that, I was having a conversation with my friends the other day (who FYI are both a couple of years younger than me), and I was the only one who doesn’t have some kind of filler or whatever. I love being natural because to me it’s a spiritual thing. But the beauty standards nowadays and the pressure to look a certain way can be very overwhelming on a young woman.

Plastic surgery isn't just used for beauty enhancements though it's actually a pretty low number of it compared to the usage in the medical field like facial reconstruction from traumatic injuries or severe burns and so on...

But to answer your question, it gives some people a new way of confidence after their surgery, some people may feel as if they are lacking some in physical features and want to enhance their beauty and bodies, but people can take it too far, just like with anything else...

I don't look down on anyone that has anything done, they have the right to do so and I have no say in their decisions.

I myself have had a Rhinoplasty due to a few issues and a deviated septum that caused a lot of problems and pain for years.

Maybe because even perfection is not enough for people who judge others harshly. The USA and South Korea are the countries with most plastic surgeries performed.
Based on my interactions with people over here I can tell that those cultures put a lot of emphasis on a person's looks. No one is truly safe from being called ugly especially if they're 100% natural. People expect perfection from others in such countries and this puts a lot of pressure on people to go under the knife.
Some people have no place for a person's character and only care about looks.
Everyone wants to feel pretty or handsome so when these people get bullied for their natural appearance they try to change it.
I am against plastic surgeries only for cosmetic purposes. Sure it's okay if someone got disfigured in an accident.
Plastic surgeries are scary. What if something goes wrong? What if you're still not considered beautiful/handsome?

It makes logical sense. If you’re considerably unattractive, then you’re at a severe disadvantage in society. It will be more difficult to land jobs, connect in social circles, and date. For the price of a car, you can change the trajectory of your life. If we have the medical expertise to make plastic surgery the norm, then why not? If something bothers you that much, then just go for it. Life is short, so we should enjoy it as much as we can. If we want to be successful, then we ought to set ourselves up for success. It’s easy for pretty people to judge saying they never would. I feel blessed to have my genetics, and I wouldn’t shame anyone for getting work done.

I'd say due to the rise of social media influencers on TikTok and Instagram, people are feeling insecure when they see people who are much more attractive than the norm. Young girls are exposed to women with perfect noses, unnaturally "nice" asses, fake boobs, fake lips, things that aren't really realistic. People tend to compare themselves a lot. They want to be like those people.
