for instance, two sisters got garments as gift, neon pink and yellow. the older sister says that she doesn't like yellow, yellow won't look good on her so she wants to exchange it her younger sister. the younger sister really liked her gift, but she didn't want to cause to a ruckus so she gives up her neon pink dress material. do you think the younger woman is a loser for not standing up for herself?

I see two completely different questions here. For the title question, I think the statement is true a lot of the time but not all the time. Maybe a majority (more than 50 percent) but I don't think "most".

As for the question inside your paragraph, no, in that specific instance I don't think the younger woman is a loser.

Regarding not communicating needs and giving up rights -- I agree with you 10000% on that. In general. Referring to the example you gave, the younger woman (according to what you wrote) didn't want to cause a ruckus. I don't see that as giving up rights -- she made a choice to maintain harmony. In that case, my view is not loser. In fact, good thing. :)

But, right, if that's the pattern of someone's life then not good. :)

Controlling behavior doesn't start with big things, I hope you realise that. Toxic people start slow and with small discomfort, and when you start tolerating that they realise they can get away with almost everything.

Could go either way - she may prioritize her relations with her sister as more valuable than the material item itself.

Some give and take - but I would also make sure that the older sister does some gove and take too if ever the younger sister requests and equivalent amt most times - it goes both ways - but that is what can lead to great relationships with others over time.
