Maybe it matters, as everyone has his preferences, some things attracts more than others. So I guess it does, to an extent.

In my case, without being a fetish, I love long hair on a girl. Give me a girl with straight, ginger hips or knee-length hair, and it's my thing.

I think any can look good but I will say that guys seem to prefer shoulder length or longer, I do not know why guys specifically have that preference moreso than girls, but that is my experience? JMO!
