I'm considering buying one, but may not if it won't stay on...
Girl, those Target string bikinis can be kinda iffy sometimes depending on the style. Here's my thoughts:
- The triangles ones with really thin strings tend to slip down or come untied way easier than full cover bottoms.
- Anything without ties on the sides or hipbones is more likely to work its way off when you're running around in the water.
- Darker colors help disguise any slips or untying mishaps better than light colors too, FYI!
- Make sure to size up if you're worried about things feeling too tight in certain places. Loose and breezy is safer.
- Test it out at home first by bending over, jumping around, etc before committing at the beach.
- Maybe bring an extra coverup or sarong just in case on the off chance it starts coming undone in public. Yikes!
If you're not cool being on high alert all day worried about wardrobe malfunctions, I'd go for one with thicker straps or ties on the sides for backup security, girl! Your call though - you rock whatever you want!

My wife wears them and has never had any significant malfunctions except an occasional nip-slip. Those was caught quickly and I keep an eye out for her. (It’s a tough job but my sacred duty nonetheless!). If we’re with the kids or a family pool she opts for a more full coverage swimsuit such as a full coverage bikini or one-piece. If we’re in Vegas, at home, or a resort then she will usually wear the low-rise strings you’re talking about.
She double knots all tie points unless we’re at home in the hot tub then a simple knot is fine.
I have never had a problem. I get the skimpiest ones I can get away with on our beach.

If you don’t want to worry about strings coming undone try a thong with wider straps. They are still cute and you don’t have to worry about a malfunction.
Not American, I'd just have my girlfriend, if I have one someday, to just buy one with thick tie up strings at the sides, thicker material and thicker knots than the other chicks answers below 👇😊♀️
If you get the right size and tie it securely you should be fine. Have you tried one on? How did the fit look?
String bikinis always have that potential if you go swimming, best to double knot it or not go in the water. You could get a regular bikini bottom and top that doesn’t use strings like the female life guard would use otherwise I think any brand would have the same problem and has to fit properly too
You always play with fire when it comes to string bikinis
I’ve never had any problems with them
